I wear mine at all times, but then if I don't, my 3-year old says "Momma, put your seatbelt on or you're goin to jail!"

AngelEyes - they have those clip things (made by Safety 1st) that rectify that little problem, and they really work great!

I wear mine in the front seat always, without even thinking about it but I don't use one in the back seat. I guess maybe it would be a good idea.

I used to wear them even before they were compulsory. I am puzzled by people who can't see the need. I won't let anyone in the back seat either unless they belt up. I've had a dog in the back break loose the front seat and pin me to the steering wheel so loose flying adults I don't need. One or two of my friends thought it strange but don't argue with me any more since the alternative is walking. Maybe some people need to be in an accident to get the point.

don't know about the US but here they are compulsory. If you are injured in an accident as a passenger and not wearing one the insurance companies either reduce the payment or don't pay at all-it's viewed as being contributory stupidity.

In some states here they're mandatory and people will be fined if caught without. You make a good point about the flying dog. I'll start belting up when I'm in the back.

Actually I put the dog in a harness as well now if it's on the back seat. Better that than a broken leg being thrown off the seat in an emergency stop.

same here it is mandatory to belt up here.

I am seriously irked when I see these idiots roaring around in vehicles and the small children are standing up in the back seats looking over their shoulders. GOOD LORD how could they have no regard for the safety of their children.

Signs should be posted all over the place along roads.

"belt your children"

"have you belted your child today"

Ok I know that sounds bad, and it should say "Belt in your child" I just could not resist.

I do always!!!!!!!!!! My ex hubby was a paramedic, and I went on a few calls with him. Once you see upclose the devistation of the choice not to wear your seatbelt, and how it simply could have been prevented.......you actually want to wear your seatbelt! It ain't pretty! :yh_sad

yep seams often times when you hear of car deaths it's because people were not wearing seatbelts. It makes good sense.

I wear mine all the time. Unfortunately, my family is horrible about wearing theirs. My parents were in an accident. The cop, seeing the car, said even with them wearing seatbelts, he doesn't know how they survived. The outcome would have been less than happy if they hadn't buckled in. From that day on, I've always worn mine.

I always wear one, so do all of my family. It really pees me off when people don't, especially in the back of a car as they may not give a sh*t about themselves but they could go into the person in front of them, so selfish!

See so many kids not wearing them and I always have a go at the driver, can't help myself.

I am going to my parents tomorrow with Jade, Ryan and Karl. Afterwards we are going to a place a few minute drive away but I won't get into the car as I won't have the baby seat. Dad already has a booster so that isn't a problem. I would rather the half an hour walk than risk my babies life.

It always seemed like it was too much trouble to buckle up, so I never wore a seat belt, that is up until 1994!!!!

In May of 1994, my good friend & neighbor was coming home late from work at around 2am. Well as it turned out, he lost control of his car & he smashed into a utility pole! His chest banged into the steering wheel, thus causing extensive internal bleeding, his wrist & arm smashed into the dash board causing multiple fractures, & his left leg banged into the streering wheel column breaking the leg in several places, he was in seriously bad shape. As it turned out, it was determined that mainly it was all because he was "not wearing his seat belt"! He was in the hospital for 2 months, needing/involving several surgeries. He was never the same since then. He still limps, & has very limited mobility of his arm, and no feeling in his fingers.

From that day in May, & on, I have worn my seatbelt, & will not even consider moving any car without it on! (Unless just moving the car in my own driveway:D)

Well, Angel Eyes, I will be that person that understands where you are coming from....I drove a big conversion van for about 7 years and the seat belt literally strangled me, was WAY too tight. I never wore my seat belt in that vehicle. Now, in other vehicles it was on in a minute and my car that I have now, on all the time, every once in a while I drive a little ways and then throw it on....and usually I'm alone...my boys would be screamin' at me! My middle son is a fanatic about it....my youngest one messes around in the back seat and he will ask me to stop until "he" (his brother) gets his belt on!!

I had a warm and fuzzy this morning, my son and I were leaving the house at the same time, and I didn't throw my seat belt on when backing up, looked over at my son, he didn't put it in reverse until that belt was on...and he's ALWAYS like that....:):):)
