IF YOU NEED EYE SIGHT CORRECTION, DO YOU PREFER TO WEAR GLASSES OR "CONTACT LENSES"?
(And why)

Glasses, I can't imagine putting a darn thing in my eye.

When I was younger, the Air Force tested my eyes for fighter pilot status. They found that I had as perfect vision as it's possible for a human to have. I could even see a little bit into the ultraviolet and the infrared. Pretty amazing, huh?
But we all age, the other day I noticed I was holding the paper farther away than I used to, looks like it's reading glasses for me at some point in the future. (sigh)

I just started wearing contacts two years ago. It had never been suggested to me by an Optometrist that I could wear them and I thought that because of my age and the fact I wear bifocals, that I was not a candidate. I have sat on so many pairs of glasses, bent the frames, scratched the lenses etc., it's nice to be done with that. The main advantge for me is physical activity. Contacts have actually helped my golf game (no longer have the ball jumping around as with the bifocals). I swim and scuba, and wearing the contacts, even with eyes open underwater is a real plus. Putting them in and taking them out is a piece of cake.

I had to have cataract surgery on both my eyes about fifteen years ago which improved my eyesight tremendously. I don't wear either glasses or contacts right now, but before my surgery, I was wearing bifocals.
I often think that if I had lived a hundred years ago and had that cataract problem then, I would be blind now. So.....I feel blessed to still be able to see, and see well.
To answer your question, I would rather have to wear glasses. I don't feel confident about those contact lenses. I do, however, have artificial lenses in my eyes do to my surgurey, but these stay in my eyes.

Glasses, because I`d feel squeamish about putting those darn little critters INTO my eyes, yuk . AND I`ve had to take my daughter on at least 2 "emergency dashes" to the casualty department at hospital to get misplaced lenses, stuck lenses, etc, removed , or whatever!!!

I get up too early to put them in, and it takes me ages to put them in... I also don't blink when I wear contacts and my eyes become dry.
Most of the time I forget I'm wearing my glasses, even get into the shower and try to wash my face with them on :yh_doh

I would like to wear contacts, but not only do I have dimples in my cheeks(both sets;) ) i also have one in my left eye. Optometrist says it would be a bad idea to try to wear lenses.
Oh, well.

I'm with you on that one, I can't even put in eye "drops" without having a lot of difficulty! :wah:

Glasses - I wear the progressives so I don't have to wear that little neck thingy for my reading glasses. And yes Jives we all get older - I never needed glasses until I was 42 - what a sad sad day. BUT, I was told I had hunter eyes rather than gatherer eyes because I could see very well if it wasn't 2 feet in front of my face. Sadly that has deteriorated to about 5 feet at 49. I couldn't wear contacts because I can't imagine putting them in without flinching and losing them down the drain.
