Comfort Zone Update!

Post by RedGlitter »

Hey Y'all,

Susie and I just installed a chatroom area at Comfort Zone so when you aren't here enjoying FG, you're welcome to come hang out at our cozy place. :)

We are trying to do a pen pal thing too and we need many more pals! *hint*

Comfort Zone's new home:

Thanks!!

It's regular, old fashioned Snail Mail, Choco!! :D We thought it might be fun to get postcards and letters! Although, I don't see any reason why you couldn't also have e-Mail Pals too! :)

No, no, I love getting "proper" letters, that's why I was hoping you were talking about snail-mail pen pals, so you can definitely count me in, let me know how this is going to work and I'm in!:-6

Great!! :) Right now, I'm collecting PMs with snail mail addresses from members who want to participate and then when we have enough, I will send each member a list of everyone else with addresses and they can write whoever they would like. I thought about matching people up but it seemed a better idea to allow everyone to write to anyone and as many as they wanted. It's posted in Announcements at CZ. You just made me realize something I'd forgotten! I need to ask everyone to include a small list of interests with their addresses. Thanks for making me think of that, Choco!

So you're in then, Aussie Pam?? Cool! Come on over!

No problem, Susie! I finally got to bed after taking a couple Sominex. Would you believe my headache is starting again? Three days now!! I think part of it may be the desk lamp I'm using. I'm going to get one of those full spectrum light bulbs.

I'm really honoured to be invited Red and AngelEyes. I want to keep up with my friends and get to know people well enough to do the snail mail / postcard thing. My problem is the FG crowd are now in seven different forums, that I know of. Some post the same thread in half a dozen. This new forum of yours will be number eight. With work and family, I'm spread so thin already, I have a lot of trouble keeping up with what's happening in even one forum. I'm kind of losing the battle, and the plot - hence all the Mona Lisa's.

Is ForumGarden to be discontinued? One of the mods in another place said something that made me wonder the other day. And I'd heard other stories a while back about the place being sold. Only gossip. No actual facts. But everyone seems to be hedging their bets and making themselves backup communities. What is it I don't know???

I'd hate to see FG go - demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass or something..

Hi Pam!

I haven't heard anything myself about FG disappearing but I'm not always in the loop either. I gave up my old forum and have no plans of leaving this one. It's still the best one I've been a part of. I have noticed that a lot of the new forums have, as you point out, the same stuff as here. What I like about having a different place to go is that if I can't find any life in one forum, there's probably some over at the other one. I think that's probably the main reason for us having Comfort Zone...I know we're not trying to compete or take anyone away from here. It would be a sad thing for FG to be dispensed with so I hope what you heard was just rumor.

And I do understand about spreading yourself thin...I'm a member of four other forums besides FG and I hardly ever go to them because I enjoy being here so much in my spare time. But know that you can check out Comfort Zone any time you want to, as little or as often as you like! :-6

Gosh, I hope that was just a rumor you heard. :-3

Hi All,

Let me put this all to rest. ForumGarden used to be owned by Smile Internet Networks. Smile Internet Networks was sold a little more than a year ago. So, in that sense, FG did have a period of time when it was up in the air. Was it going to be discontinued? No. Was there a chance that there was going to be a change of ownership? Yes.

When all was said and done, I was able to pull FG out of the transaction and here we are today! (For those who don't have a history here, I'm the guy who created FG.)

I just posted on another thread that I am right in the middle of spec'ing out a brand new server for FG and some of our other sites.

With luck, as long as I'm standing and am in my right mind, FG will be here for a long long long time.

Damn'd near had a seizure for a moment there. Thanks for the reassurance, I can breathe again now.

It's good to know the facts behind the rumour - even if I'd never heard the rumour before today
