"Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars. Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, 'I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight', people would say, 'Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a damn word that comes out of his mouth.' " Michael Jackson

Back when Coronation Street started I wandered across the moors and knocked on Ken Barlow's door asking for an autograph. Of course, I was young and foolish then and was easily sucked into the cult of celebrity - it would never happen now.

He was very nice about it and filled a whole page in my book :wah:

When I was a kid I sent out a fan letter once. I can't remember who I sent it to now, but it was some heartthrob. I remember hoping I'd get a handwritten letter back because he'd see just how much thought I'd put into mine. All I got was an autographed 8x10 picture of him. And it wasn't even originally autographed... it was one of those mass-produced pictures! How young and naive I was! :wah:

Now I don't even bother thinking about sending out letters of admiration or things like "your latest movie really touched me" etc. etc. Most celebrities are simply doing a job and are usually too busy to bother with fan mail. I'd say 99% of the time celebrities don't even personally read fan letters. Someone is paid to do it and send back a response (like an autographed picture.)

But, hey, it's still fun to do sometimes!

I've never written anyone famous myself but you have nothing to lose by doing so. Sure, their staff will probably handle it because stars get reams of mail impossible for just them to open and reply to every letter; but even so, yours may be the letter the staff hands Bruce personally. And even if not, they'll probably send you some type of reply, either a thank you letter or maybe a photo. :)

:wah: Rumour has it ...... he eventually had them 'return to sender' - your demands were too great and Mrs Santa stopped him sending out the 'adult' gifts you were constantly requesting. :sneaky:
