Car Start Problem - HELP

My 2000 Oldsmobile Aurora will not start. I drove it home, parked it, and this morning it will not start.

When I open the door the security light flashes. I can turn the key but there is no sound, and no action. The battery is fine, lights and radio come on - jump-start did not help. Am I going crazy?

Fuel pump, timing belt, anti theft system engaged.

You can hear the fuel pump whir when you turn the key.If you suspect anti theft engaged call an Olds dealership and they'll tell you how to re set it.

If it's your timing belt my thoughts are with you.

Could also be positive battery cable to starter. Wiggle it while trying to start. The cables sometimes become corroded down the line a bit. Also if it is automatic turn the key on and take it in and out of park in case neutral safety switch is not engaging. If it will turn over and still not start it is either fuel or electronics, go to your nearest mechanic.

All good suggestions, if all else fails, have a friend stand in front of the car & watch the headlights. Just put on your head lights & turn the key. If the headlights go dim, it's likely the "starter". Good luck! And oh yeah, welcome to FG!

Could be as simple as a loose battery connection. Wiggle the black and red ones, if either is loose tighten them. If theres any corrosion or sulfur buildup clean the battery posts with a stiff brush. First thing Id do though is have someone jump start you if nothing else just to eliminate the battery.

The battery will be the cheapest and easiest to replace.

All good advice sounds like the battery, or the cables to the battery to me. Then again it could be the starter but that usually give you some warning. Has it been hard to start at all for awhile??

Reading through that I saw two severed limbs and one death by crushing. Does FG carry sufficient indemnity insurance?

Take out the key, Sarah, lock the car, go indoors and phone for a car repair mechanic callout.
