Flashers!!

I just saw this article about a flasher - why do you think flashers 'flash', what are they getting out of it? :-3 Is it just the shock factor? Is it a sexual satisfaction? If so, how? :-2

I was gonna respond by saying, "cause its fun"...but I am only joking!!

I think its horrible that the man exposed himself to a young girl...I've never seen a flasher in real life.....I think they have an obsession with the thrill....and that they are perverts!

Yes I agree, it must have been very scary for the little girl. I cannot image what she must of thought was going to happen next.

I don't understand why he did it in the supermarket, do you think it was adding to the thrill factor, or just a sudden desire that took him

If I saw a flasher in a supermarket, I would have fallen about laughing, then whacked 'it' with a cucumber!! Guess thats why he picked on a young girl - us old 'uns' are less shocked!!

I was flashed at once.

It was in my previous incarnation as a police officer. I was undercover (!) in an area where there had been a prolific flasher.

I walked up and down waiting, eventually I was flashed at but by the time I discreetly got my radio out and called for back up he disappeared into the trees never to be seen again.

I'm sure you can imagine the comments about me failing to get my man when I got back to the station

I have to say though - I had to squint to see what he had on offer - not worth worrying about really......

Seriously though, it is distressing to be flashed at and a lot of his victims where women on their own just out walking theirs dogs. Not a nice thing to happen.

Why do they Flash - I suppose it would a individuals must do.

from addictions - thrill - scare factor - reactions - extreme weirdo.

Ladies have you been Flashed? Me yes - more than I care to remember..

I have never been flashed - thankfully. What goes through your mind when you are flashed, I am guessing it also depends on where you are?

When I was quite young, my sister and I where floating along the shore-line on one of those 'lilo' things, and an older man had his 'todger' hanging out of his shorts - we kept giggling - he knew what he was doing - no accident.

We thought it was funny, but looking back - he must of been a sicko!!

I've never been flashed...and I think I'd try to embarrass them if I could...thats just sick, especially to little children.

My ex-father in law's bits were hanging out of his shorts one time, that was enough of seeing an undesireable man naked...for me!!:yh_sick

When I was in college age 17 or 18 a friend and I were flashed. We told him to get the hell out there. He left in a hurry. I think flashers are pretty phobic types IMHO

One of my incidents involved the FBI.

I was all of about 10 yrs old, I had my younger sister with me as we were walking home from a neighborhood park.

We were walking home came to a street and theres this man in his vehicle, all exposed and going to town. I don't remember his "buddy" - I remember his eyes.

I grabbed my sisters arm - pushed her back from the curb. I tried to cross going around behind his vehicle - he put the vehicle in reverse. Finally another car approached and he had to move. I grabbed my sisters arm and told her we had to run & run fast. My younger sister is just that - she'd rather sit on the sidewalk and throw a fit - great..

We have one more block to get home & now I can't get my sister off the concrete.

I get her to the next corner and our friend/flasher is there again.

I managed to get part the his license plate number & I managed to get my sister home.

It wasn't until I was at my neighbors house playing and that same vehicle drove by. I paniced - this guy knows where I live - I ran into my friends house and her mother called the Police. You ask - you my mother didn't call the Police??

Police show up at my friends house I give them all the info and 1/2 of the license plate number.

Not long after that report ws filed the FBI showed up at my home - I picked the Flasher out of a line up and found out this Flasher tried to abduct a young girl in another school district and she had the other half of the license plater number.

When the FBI showed up at my house - is when my mother believed me.

This incident still makes me shake - so sorry for the type O's.

Wow Patsey, that must of been really scary. I hope he got a long jail sentence, the sicko!!

I was just trying to understand what possible satisfaction these perverts got out of it.

It sounds like you saved your sister, and yourself, from possible worse stuff too. Well done Patsey :-4

Why Flashers do this? - several reasons

One time my girlfriend & I were on a busy street walking eachother half way home, we're both about 14 yrs old.

The street lights were just coming on, so I had to get home.

We're laughing & talking when all of a sudden this completely naked man with a camera around his neck, jumps out of a tree right in front of us.

I remember laughing so hard - we were cracking up - the flasher ran off.

I always wondered whats with the camera? I guess he wanted our reaction?

I think flashers, such as in this case, do it as a sort of power play. Even though they're exposing themselves, I think they feel in control of the situation. I think they get off on the embarrassment, fear and confusion that results when a young girl/boy is flashed, or even when an adult is unwillingly flashed.

Of course these infractions eventually lead to much more serious ones. That goes hand in hand, once the offender gets more and more comfortable with what they're doing and the reaction they're getting.

I've never thought of flashing as a harmless pastime. I've always found quite disturbing, actually. Exhibitionism is a sign of a serious mental issue that can result in more damaging crimes if not taken care of.
