I shouldnt have done that

Post by Indian Princess »

Ok, before you all pm me and say , oh, not good, let me set the stage:

My son is almost 16 (homones galore) he is a man dont I know!!!!!!!

ADHD

tantrums like a two year old at times

ok the other day I had had it , many times I come into the house and within 20 minutes of being home from work I get it, vicious attacks, verbal, and other times he is the most wonderful thing on earth.

Any way, he had been having a negative week, and in the mist of a tirade, I said

"I am going to have a baby" He paused a millisecond, and said whatever, and walked away, about five minutes later, I went into his room , and guess who had relaxed to some degree? I then told him no way was I pregnant, he cracked up, hey ol mom still got a sense of humor, just wanted to show you, life changes at the drop of a hat , dont sweat the small stuff.:lips::-6

I can totally relate to your method....... When my boys were young, and constantly squabbling... Theyd call me " Mom he hit me.. etc........

With a perfectly straight face I would say " What would you like me to do?

Shall I rip off his arm, and beat him with it? Or should we set his hair on fire?

They would look at me, and then the three of us would just die laughing.

Sounds a little rough, I know...... and this is why my son will say today that being raised by me was like being raised by Dennis Leary. I think humor can never hurt, and can teach big lessons..... as you did.

The shock tactic works well. I have three boys and one girl and I'd say my daughter went through the roughest time. She never failed to stand her teeter totering ground. Now she has mellowed out a bit and so have I. Parenting is tough. What was I thinking having so many?? :-5 But I wouldn't change anything.
