My dog

Post by Mia »

My little thirteen and a half year old dog has been acting strange for the past three months,I had guessed it was a dooggy dementia kind of thing.I took her to the vets today as lumps had formed on her belly,Worst fears confirmed.Cancer and too old to operate, she will get worse shall we put her down?I honestly could not go through with it today as she is not in pain yet.Have booked her in for next Thursday,so we can have one last week together.Oh god I am dreading it,but the last thing I want is her to be any pain.So hard isn't it.

Oh, that is such a hard decision to make. I had a kitty once, and he was ill too. I took him home until he started to hurt, but it was so hard to say goodbye to him. He is still the best kitty I ever had, such a loving cat. You will know when the time is right.

Mia I am so sorry to hear this :-4 I have been there too, its very upsetting.

Try to remember that she gave you 13 wonderful years of loyalty and love. Its only right that in the end you don't allow her to suffer, and let her go. This is what I kept saying to myself, I saw the sense, but it still hurts so, so badly.

Hugs and :-4 to you.

It's very, very hard but it's the last gift of love you can give her,

kudos do you for doing the hard thing... but the RIGHT thing.

Too many people in your position would drop her off at the shelter

because they were too cowardly to do what needed to be done.

Enjoy your last days with her, in a way you have time to really

just BE with her. Do all the things she likes to do, even if it's just

sleeping then watch her while she sleeps.

We had to face this a few months ago. I do know how hard it is.

Many hugs to you and a smooch for your old girl's muzzle.

One of my big, big regrets is that I waited too long with my last dog, Sam. We were on holiday when the time came and, by the time we reached civilization, he was begging to die.

I would not wish that on anyone and should have done better for someone who relied on me.

So sorry for your heartache.:-1

Like Valerie said, give her a big hug and smooch from me too.

Right now i'm going through about the same thing. my 13 year old baby girl is feeling her age too. It's so hard to let them go.

Mia, I'm so sorry to hear this. So many of us here know how this goes, so I hope you know you have many friends here waiting when you need us. You'll know when the time is right...she will let you know. Animals have a way of doing that. You are doing the right and admirable thing putting your companion's needs before your own. That's what we have to do when we love them. :-4

Mia I have 9 dogs and each one I care about so much. One of them I thought I had lost earlier in the year and I actually said goodbye to her. That little 13 year old scrap....all 5lb of her pulled through though and although she has lost "the plot" she is still so so precious to me.One of my others has just gone through a cancer operation. They cut a huge lump from under her and found another one. They were malignant but when I picked her up after her op she was wagging her tail and it all seemed worth the heartache that I had been through not knowing what to do and knowing I had done the right thing. How long she has got I do not know but while she is happy, eating and in no pain who am I to take her once only life away. You must do Mia what your heart tells you and not what other people tell you.Its your heartache.....its your grief but its also your decision and I know whatever you decide it will be the right heartbreaking one to make.Im thinking of you Mia.............God Blessx
