It`s also worth considering that one can "LOVE" another person, a soccer team (no names mentioned!), a particular meal, a particular place, a particular event......yet they surely don`t feel EXACTLY THE SAME EMOTION to all those different types of things or people....and even 2 people saying to each other `I love you` don`t actually KNOW if they both are feeling the IDENTICAL thing!!!

Most of us are guided through life to love. With any luck we have or had loving parents. I don't think there is one single explanation for love, it encompasses so much. Faith, trust, compassion, kindness, tenderness, understanding, teaching, learning, dedication and on and on. Love makes you feel good when you are with a person you love and who loves you.

That is a very basic take on my views, as I say, they're quite mixed up..

Love won't **** you up forever when it goes wrong if you don't let it. Look at it as a stepping stone. Take parts of it that were good and bring it forward in your life and leave the bad parts behind, yet learn from them and don't repeat them. Love is something we are meant to experience, and it isn't meant to screw us. If it hurts after the first try then you know you made a mistake, if it hurts after the second try, then maybe we just aren't figuring it out. Why do you think folks date, it takes time to get it right. You have to learn each time and not let it get the better of you. And love changes and some folks are willing to change, others not, so again learn from it and move along.

Love is when you are completely, utterly vulnerable to the one you love, and they know it, and they DON'T take advantage of it, and vice-versa.

Everything you say, everything you do, has ten times the meaning where your partner is concerned. What would roll off their back coming from anyone else in the world, can cut the deepest or mean the absolute most coming from you. Putting their happiness before your own, wishing more for them than you want for yourself. Does that make sense?

Love is something that many people say and that has meanings on many different levels. For me, although I told my other half I loved him...and meant it....for me, love was when we had a tiny brand new baby and we had to get up in the night to feed him. I remember it was my turn to get up, but I just felt so completely shattered I found it really hard to summon the energy to move..... then the other half, bless him, whispered 'you stay warm under the covers - I'll see to him' and even though he had worked a long tiring 12 hour day and had fallen exhausted into bed so he could work another long day tomorrow, he got up and fed, changed, cuddled and calmed the baby and he never complained that it wasn't his turn or that I owed him one. He just calmly took over...and he made me feel very loved.

He very rarely says the words....but his actions show how very deep his love is.

To add to the question: If you are in love with someone and it doesn't work out "in the long run" but you have 6 months of bliss, two years, five years, whatever. Does it mean it wasn't "really" love? I think it was. Just not the right love for ever.
