Salt Spring Island

Post by weeder »

Do any of our Canadian members know anything about Salt Spring Island... BC ? Would you share? I only know that it is a place where many artisans reside. The old hippy feeling really appeals to me. I am particuarly interested in the weather. And is going to Canada the same as going abroad, in terms of visas... being able to work.. length of stay etc...? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Weeder, I am sure that you will not be dissapointed. I, for one have not been to Salt Spring. I live on the mainland in Vancouver, and time does not give us this chance. Do go there, and I am sure you will not be dissapointed. B.C. is a beautiful province. I for one have done more travelling in B.C. this past year and one half than I had done for many years, and I truly am in awesome at its beauty and diversiveness. It is a beautiful province, and I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you moonpie. I have had a newspaper layout that I cut out about 12 years ago on Salt Spring. I think it was before it was very well known.

My aunt has a little property there for sale. They loved it while they were younger and able to sail over from Vancouver Island more often. It's a place I always wanted to get to but prolly never will unless you swing by and pick me up on the way. It is full of artisans as is Vancouver Island. From what I understand it's a very quaint hippy hang out. Knowing you I think you would love it there. Are you planning a vacation there please let me know I would love to join ya hehehehe

Dear Mel,

I asked about it because I am entertaining thoughts of running away again.

Ive had Salt Spring Island in the back of my mind for years. If nothing else, my next vacation WILL be there. I cant think of a better travelling companion. We would have a ball. So as soon as I have the funds to plan it, I will get in touch with you, and we will go together... you can count on it.

I guess we could both fly to Vancouver, and go over to the island together. Thanks so much for the reply. Laura
