Sorry Mia,

Just saw your thread about this day.....will post again what I put in Cars' thread.

Very nice thread Cars....thank you AND Mia.

We had our Veteran's program and then a parade in the afternoon last Monday. We have these programs early in honor of the Vets so the programs don't interfere with the NY and Philly parade.

It was just so beautiful to see the Vets from WW2, Gulf War and Vietnam standing so proudly. It was an honor to meet them. Thank you to all of our vets throughout the world.

I do so hope that with as much sarcasm as I read it to be - to move the Rememberance Day parade for such a reason dishonours their memory.

Bryn,

It was not my idea to move the day of parade in my town. It happens all the time here. All the small towns like to have parades. And if they have it on the day of remembrance then no one comes. Many people like to go into the big cities to view and honor the Vets. Today there are many parades for the Veterans and I'm going to one this afternoon in a near-by town.

And, I personally do not think it's a dishonor to the Vets. The Vets in my area know that we appreciate and honor their service. That's my opinion.

There is a website, The Vietnam War, something along those lines, and it has a guestbook, you give your thoughts and thanks, and they actually e-mail a response.

I totally apologise - I misread your post completely.

For some reason I thought you were referring to the NY Giants and Philly Eagles having a celibration - I must be more than half asleep 'cos it certainly did not say that.

Thank you Bryn,

I thought you did. Many of our Vets that live in these small towns around me aren't able to travel into NY or Philly so we have the parade on other days for them. They more-abled Vets want to march in all the parades so the towns got together and agreed on different dates to have all of our parades, and we support everyone and go to all the parades.

In fact, our St. Patrick's Day parade this year will probably be on the 8th. So I guess we'll just celebrate all month:wah:

That just sounds typically Irish - any excuse to celibrate :wah:

On second thoughts, count me in on that - the more celebrations the betterer.
