Kava Kava Root
Has anyone tried this stuff? It's an herb and is popular in other cultures the way grass is popular in ours. Supposedly it gives a person a calm feeling of wellbeing. Yeah well, if you can get the stuff down, maybe. It is godAWFUL nasty and bitter and it numbs the tongue temporarily. I bought the capsules and that did nothing and then I bought the real stuff- the kava root powder. I put it in the special bag like it said to do and I squeezed it into water to make this nastyass drink. It was so bad I had to mix it with Hawaiian Punch to choke it down. But my question is...has anyone else ever tried this (or will they admit it) and what's the secret to getting it to work??

I did a few shells in Vanuatu earlier in the year. It's is a bit like drinking mud, and I'm pleased I got my Hep A boosters before leaving, because they just kind of rinsed the shells in a bucket before dipping them in the Kava to sell you the next one.
You get kind of body-stoned, but it's not that strong. Three shells seems to be the limit for white-falla endurance though. One of the lads did four, and was a very unhappy panda all night, and now fells nauseous at the sound of the word "kava".
I don't know what they did to mix it. I guess mortar and pestle the root, and then stir with water. I didn't taste like they washed the mud off first.
