No Chermical Imbalance - Birth

So if there is no chemical imbalance (linked to other thread), how were you born? Or your children.

Did I do this right (bangs head on wall!)

Naturally, with out preservatives, unless you count Jack Daniels

Pheasy...I'm not sure if I should post in this thread or your other one. I think this is the right one. My condition (cerebral palsy) CAN be caused during birth because of lack of oxygen to the brain.

To answer your question.....I was born naturally

I'm not sure if what I was trying to do here would work. I think I should of had more options. :-2

:-4 I didn't know that cerebral palsy can be caused by lack of oxygen at birth. Even if my poll plan doesn't work it will help to make people more aware (like me) of the cause and understanding of certain health problems. Thanks for answering Chicky :-4

Every time I see new doctors for Minime, always one of the first questions they ask is if he was born by C-section and/or complications during pregnancy or birth - I'm trying to hold my own study but not sure its working too well. It seems to me that the docs are trying to find some link here :-3

I understand they're still not 100% decided on that but they're leaning toward it. I don't think they're saying it's the only reason though.

Anyhow, at rapidly approaching 44 years old, people could say I'm a little slow on the uptake - I got there eventually. No hope for me now though - I'm an old lady :wah:

Changing the subject slightly......

I was in labour for 2 days with Minime, then they discovered he was trying to come out butt first, then we ceased to progress, then I have to a c-section to get the little monkey out, then he decided to wait for the last minute to breath. To the point where I nearly jumped of the operating table to grab him - it would not of been a pretty site as my stomach was hanging open and I was numb from the boobs down. :-2

I should of had some sort of clue when we got to 'I'm coming out butt first Mum!' :wah:

Pheasy, I thought I would post this after reading your last post.

My oldest son had a birth experience nearly the same as you described. My wife was in labor for 48 straight hours. The Dr. then decided that he was to big for my wife to have him vaginally, so they took him with a c-section. He also didn't want to breath right away. They got him breathing and told us both he was okay. Then a 1/2 hour later they come to get me and tell me he is intensive care. He had colapsed lungs among other things. He was 9 lbs 10 oz's, so he looked a little funny in the ICU with all the little babies. He was in ICU for 6-7 days (can't remember for sure) Anyways my point is, He is now a 27 year old father of two. He teaches 6th grade at one of the largest highschools in our area and never seemed to be affected by the traumatic birth. Did I mention he is still one of my best friends in the world and has actually told me I am his best buddy?

I don't understand the question. I think there are some countries in the world where there is only one choice, a fully natural birth with all the inherent dangers, high mortality rates for mothers and babies etc. In some developed countries it seems many women elect to have a cesarian, although there is no medical reason for it, even though it may be slightly more risky for the baby. Where doctors know there is a high risk factor of some kind - like a breech position that can't be changed, or the umbilical cord dangerously placed, or placenta praevia or extreme hypertension in the mother, or the baby is showing signs of distress - and then decide on one or other kind of intervention - I wouldn't be trying to second guess their expertise. It's the end result that's important - for me anyway. A healthy mother and baby come before abstract principles.

Choose the best doctor you can.
