Nothing much these days....got wise to the dusting and cleaning issues !

In days gone by I have collected thimbles, antique cream jugs, blue pottery and 'smokemabelia'....yes....cigarette boxes, pipes, lighters, tobacco tins etc. The cigarette boxes were interesting and some were beautifully crafted. It's all gone now except 1 favourite cigarette box and a pretty silver ashtray shaped as a swan. The wings fold over to hide the ash !!!

What do you do with all your key chains?

I also collect key chains - I hang them on a large swag chain ( chain for hanging lamps) I have hundreds..

I now collect ash trays - vintage purses - just about anything odd.

I used to collect old dip pens, but havn't added any for a long time. Many years ago I started a collection of porcelain eggs, made by Minton, Royal Doulton etc. fortunately for me they stopped them at four, never have found any others.

I also started buying a lot of those collector plates, some of which are on the wall, the rest I'd like to sell.... too many.

I'm only in my early 60s but what's the point of collecting more stuff, it adds to the clutter, and I shudder to think what my boys will do with most of it when the time comes, probably sell it all off in a yard sale for peanuts.. So, I'm not collecting anything else.

I travel a fair amount with my work, and having never collected anything I decided to start collecting coffee mugs from countries I go to on business.

However there is one rule attached, I actually have to spend some time to see the country I am in, if I am just in and out and don’t get to see anything I don’t get a mug, but if I get a tour in or see some of the city I buy one.

I now have 22 mugs on display in my office. The problem now is that I am being made redundant and my wife is dreading me bringing home all these f**ken coffee cups into the house.
