Hi guppy-

I can't seem to make my tree different from year to year. Once I tried an all red bow tree with these birds I wired on but to be truthful most of the years I use the same ol' (standby) ornaments.

Here's a funny, tender story. Once when my daughter was about hmm... 8 or so, she and friend were asked (by me) to put up the ornaments, and so they eagerly did. Soon I found them deliberating 'round the tree trying to decide which ones to put on. I asked them what the heck they were doing since it was taking so long, and my daughter's friend said they were sorting the ones that needed to go to the ornament hospital, because of broken appendages and such. I was really touched because they were taking enough time to look at each one and many had broken off pieces.

I sat down with them after having a good chuckle and spent the evening looking through all of the ornaments we had accumulated throughout the years that the kids had made or were sent to us or had some significance, talking about each one. Was rather an interesting beginning to the holiday season for me. And the 'hospital' was really getting to be a crowded place by the time they were done.

Once I went to a Christmas party where the hostess had three trees and all the ornaments on the trees were real eggs that had been hollowed out and painted in beautiful designs by her. She had made this a tradition, every year painting more. Some of the eggs were from large birds like the Ostrich. Some had a painted design so painstakingly rendered I imagine it took hours to achieve. Very special! Absolutely enjoyed looking at them all!

I collect ornaments, and as I unwrap & hang them brings back several memories.

My mother-in-law who's 86, gave me some great old ornaments that shes had for 60 years.

I wrap the lights in thru out the tree - hang ornaments - tie red bows on the branches, and hang/swag white pearls from branch to branch. My tree top is a Santa which swings a lighted lantern. The tree looks beautiful and usually takes me a couple of days.

My tree is the same - since I have my favorite ornaments that have to be placed.

My sister us to have a flocked tree with all blue - it was really lovely.

I was hoping to go to Vegas to eliminate all this HO HO HO work.. not going :-2

Where I used to live had two sitting rooms so we had two trees each with it's own theme, one was rich colours, reds, golds etc and the other was cool colours, blues, silver, lilac. So now I live in a smaller house I have two sets of decorations to choose from.

However, every year the same fairy goes on the top of the tree, she is ancient, we used her when I was child and I have always loved her. When mum and dad bought a new one they were going to throw her away but I was so indignant that they couldn't she came to live at my house!
