Will Soylent Green Be Next?!

Post by RedGlitter »

Okay for anyone who doesn't know, Soylent Green was a movie back in the 70s where the world was overpopulated and food was at a premium so they started eating...processed people; called "Soylent Green."

I think this could be as bad:

Drinking "Cleaned Up" Sewage Water

:wah: Hi Scrat! Good to see you! Was wondering where you've been!

Yep, pretty gross huh? And even my state (AZ) was considering it but it got canned. (whew!)

I remember seeing that movie. That was pretty depressing. Hopefully, that idea will never be given a go by California - surely there must be other ways.

BTW was that Chalton Heston in that movie? Can't remember.:-3

Not just the water you need to worry about.

Don't worry we'll be able to sell you tankers of the stuff so long as we can get oil for the engines.

Wow, am I finally glad that I have "well water"! Over the years, we've had problems like, the pump has burned out 5 times (cause it's a 340ft deep well) the connecting pipes have broken twice, and the "recovery rate' sometimes is a little slow. However, on the bright side, it is crystal clear, ice cold, & pure as can be!!! :)

As far as this recycling plant, instead of the building it right next to the sewerage plant, why didn't they build it close to the ocean? If I had to choose where the initial water to be recycled came from, I would much rather it came from the ocean then the toilet!!!!! :yh_sick

(And yes it was Charlton Heston)

Once it has been filtered by mother nature you really don't have to worry, I mean what do we not eat and drink that has not been recycled by nature?

I'm probably drinking dinosaur whiz in my coffee now.

Now now don't you know fossils and the theory evolution is all a trick of the devil. There were no dinosaurs so you can't be drinking dinosaur whiz which I assume is a quaint euphemism for urine. What will they do if it's against somebody's religion.

In the UK politicians take the **** out of us all anyway. :sneaky:

Well, maybe thats news to you. But I mean water is constantly recycled in nature, and the river or well water or whatever your source of water is has passed through lots of bodies of various animals and plants, been through rivers, seas, clouds, sewers, taps, boilers, endlessly I am not sure what the life span of a water molecule is precisely, but its a fairly stable one so you can bet its a very very long time, so where each of these water molecules has been over its life-span, and the fact that its such a promiscuous solvent well its not hard to guess some of the places its been and the things that have been in it! :sneaky: But over its life-span its constantly being re-evaporated and purified again. Thats one of the things I find hard to understand about homeopathy. If water retains the "memory" of the substances that have been absorbed in it, why doesn't remember things like feces, or bacteria, or pollutants, and only a small number of herbs? It makes no sense.

I don't know, I think for me it comes down to the fact that I trust Nature to give me clean water more than I would trust Joe Lunchbucket at the water treatment plant. You know how things Go Wrong. At some point there's just got to be some sewage leaking into the drinking water or some such disaster caused by human error.

If you have a natural and safe source of freshwater thats excellent, but if its a municipal water supply then you are probably no worse off with the treated wastewater. Even in Ireland here (where we have too much water if anything) there are lots of cases of e-coli, crytosporidium and other nasties getting into reservoirs etc, usually because of the overuse of natural fertilizers, and also dead animals that have drowned in the reservoirs, (hope this doesn't put anyone off their dinner). :o
