Let Me Out!

Post by koan »

I had someone almost kill me driving recklessly on a mountain road once. Almost went over the cliff. Since then I've demanded a driver pull over and let me out. I couldn't do much on the mountain as it was winter and no one for many miles but I walked from Surrey to White Rock when it happened again.

What do you do when you don't trust a driver?

I would say let me out, no matter where, and hope to see other traffic along the road. I think if a female alone in trouble is out there waving her hands, most people would stop. No way, would I stay in that car. Glad you made it okay.

I always drive. If you are in a car with me and I let you drive then I trust you with my life.

That's the way I see it. When I'm driving I appreciate the trust that is put in me and feel responsible for the lives of everyone in the car. I expect other people to act the same.

I've actually tested that out, to see if another driver going to the same place got there any faster by breaking the law and weaving through lanes. I think they saved about 5 minutes.

I have to admit I have problems being a passenger unless I really trust the person now. Also, I hate going anywhere from which I can't control my ability to leave... so I need to have a cab number and fare, be within walking distance, know the bus routes, or drive myself. I'm turning down a mini Christmas vacation because I won't have the ability to leave 'the party' if I agree to go.
