your highs and lows of 2007

Post by Imladris »

The low and high are sort of tied together this year.

The low - watching my husband struggle with depression, the high - the wonderful things he said when he told me he couldn't have coped without me, bless his smelly cotton socks.:)

Highs--Seeing my son graduate from high school and now seeing him work and not wanting to miss a day. Seeing my daughter make plans for college. Spending time with my 2 year old grandson and getting his kisses.

Lows--Seeing what Alzheimer's is doing to my mother.

well lets see:thinking:

Low - Husband was attacked by two young thugs on new years Day ( not a good start to the year)

HIgh - They didnt manage to nick his car, and he got away with cuts and bruises.

Low - Problems with son:-1

High - he is home now, and hopefully on his way to sorting things out.

Low - dad had some strokes

High - they were small and he is now recovering nicely.

Worst Low - My wonderful mother in law passed away after years of fighting cancer.:-1

some more highs - hubs took a private pension early, allowing us to pay off some debts, buy a caravan and have a holiday abroad this january:D

My daughter completed her college with distinctions and has started her new chosen career path.

My Daughters boyfreinds brother was given a last chance double lung transplant, they have since told him he probably wouldnt have seen this Christmas without it. he seems to be doing really well now:D

phew! its been an up and down kinda year!

Yes I agree as most of us have had.........good times and bad. I cant without going to details write here certain things but its not been an easy year at times as I know the following year wont be also..... but I do know that 2008 will sort out many things.Faith is important and we all have our Higher Power that sees us through so much.I have learned that we indeed are not alone at times of great troubles even though we think we are..........listen to your inner self........look for that sign and most of all...........believe. Hope you have a New Year that brings you all the love and good health you so deserve;)

Hmmn, I think 07 was a good year for me in general so I won't complain.

Highs

Gaining a fellowship award to do my higher degree

Getting awarded an arts grant for my music

being admitted as a member of the RSC (chemistry, not Shakespeare)

My sister getting engaged.

Seeing a one act play I wrote being performed, (that was fun).

Moving into my new place, which I really like and its all mine!

Seeing an irrigation system I spent about 5 months trying to design and build actually work for the first time! Phew.

Lows

Lovelife bit all over the shop unfortunatly, frustrating.

My mam was a bick sick over the year but she is OK now.

My dog Frodo having to move to Kildare with my sister.

Looking at that, I realize that its been a great year really for me, and my family and so I consider myself very lucky, I hope 08 goes as well, and I hope everyone else has a good year with as few problems as possible. :-6

Thanks a lot K, I did kinda realize that when I was doing the post, it was a good year for me definetly, more so because I really enjoyed the good parts, but then I have had very bad years as well like everyone, and I have a good family and friends which always makes things easier, so I realize how lucky I am that 07 went well, and more importantly fate was kind to everyone I am close to. I know some members have had some tough times in 07, and all I can say is keep on doing your best to get through them, because there is always something worth keeping hope in, and you never know what's around the corner. (in my experience anyway).

Highs: I have a good job and my kids are healthy. I quit smoking in Jan. and haven't picked up a cigarette yet.

Down: son had 4 accidents within a 2 month period, having major issues with cars, people claiming things on insurance to milk my policy etc.

Down: Health is taking a toll due to stress....

Down: Child Support reduced to an amount that I can no longer live in the home I've lived in for 17 years with my children...

Down: The man of my dreams moved away, we were supposed to break it off, but unable to at this present time, but eventually I will not have him to call:-1:-1

Down: car broke down numerous times

Down: dog got injured and cost a lot of money I didn't have to pay

There are more, but listing these are making me depressed....so I will stop!:-5

I am not a person that likes negativity, actually despise it. I always try to find the good in people and in situations, but looking back at 2007, I am REALLY looking forward to a new beginning. I know life isn't a bowl of cherries and can't expect everything to be perfect....but I would just like a little contentment and not have so much on my plate. 7 is the number of completion and I am ready to close this chapter and look forward to a new and happier year!

I won't write about my downs, I've written about them before, and Christmas is upon us, and like WW it would only depress me further, so I will write about my ups:-

I was introduced to Forum Garden and made lots of lovely friends - some of whom have helped me more than they could know, and I am for ever grateful to them for being there for me - they know who they are :-4

We had a good summer holiday.

We acquired a super car - a Volvo T 5 turbo etc. which fulfilled a dream I have had since they were first brought out ! (the one in my Avatar pic). We paid silly money for it as well, cos the fella who sold it to us owed me quite a lot of money, so I wiped his debt off (well I had really written it off some time ago, and this was a total surprise that this fella remembered he owed me ! ).

Can't think of much else except that we're all keeping fairly healthy thank goodness, except for the odd cold etc.

With regard to my 'downs' I just hope that 2008 brings us a little more peace and consequently a better quality of life !

:-6 ;) :D :-4

Firstly Id like to wish you all lots of luck, happiness, health, wealth and friendships for 2008....Lovely people deserve to be happy.

My Lows

2 days before christmas (2006) hubby was laid off from work. Was a stressful time and I finally gave him my blessing to set up his own business. I had to take out a personal loan to pay our bills and to live on whilst he got the business going.

Lost two close friends to cancer and watched another friend who is 31 get over breast cancer, she was booked to have breast reconstruction but it was cancelled last minute as they found another tumour on her lung. Shes just finished her last chemo which was so strong it nearly killed her...Im praying for a good 2008 for her especially as her boyfriend has proposed and they are due to marry in the spring 2008.

My Highs

Every day waking up to my kids smiles

My youngest daughters asthma inprovement since seeing a new asthma nurse and having different medication.

The love I feel from family and friends

Meeting nice peeps from all over the world on the net
