Yesterday I watched the Family Stone. A great movie with Diane Keaton, Sara Jessica Parker, Rupert Everett and other great actors. It's about a large family coming together for the holidays. As I was watching the movie, I found myself wishing I had Christmas's like that. You know a big rambling house, silly sibling squabbles, ect ect. And then suddenly while in the midst of this daydream it hit me, why am I wishing for this? I have a family now, no it's not perfect, who's is, I have a roof over my head, food in my cubboards. So why am I wishing for something more, when there are plenty of folks would be happy as a lark to have what I have. I'm finally growing up. I'm finally beginning to realize my place in this world, and to give back from what I have now. And not sit and wish and wait till I have more.
So my friends here, love what you have now, because someone somewhere would love to have it. And lot's of love and hugz from the crazy Texan this holiday season!

Simple perfection. Really beautiful.
I myself have had a gradual revelation recently.
Ive always gotten muddled up in trying to sort my minds thoughts and my feelings into some sort of organized semblence of sanity.
Then it dawned on me its not so much what I think or feel thats as important as what I do. My actions.
That really clears things up for me.

It's not what you have or how long you have it, it's what you do with it, giving back is everything. That's a good Christmastime post Sheryl.
Here, this might even fit with the idea, I got a lot out of watching this. It's called Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams and it's by an amazing chap at Carnegie-Mellon called Randy Pausch.

Good post, Sheryl. I think we all do that from time to time. Wishing for something better than we already have. We all think the grass is greener on the other side. What we don't always realize is, there is no other side!

It took me awhile to get through, but i must say that was an excellant video, spot! Lot's of little nuggets of knowledge for me to chew and grow on.
If anyone else hasn't watched it, take the time and watch it. It's well worth the hour and 25 minutes. And you'll have some laughs
