Father Christmas

Post by kinks »

There was just this kids programme on called Father Christmas and i have no idea why something like this one, can be broadcasted for kids.

all that the santa was saying through it, was "bloomin" this and "Flippin heck" that.

smoking cigars, getting drunk, running to the toilet and pulling his pants down, so you can see all his back end and coming accross, that he didn't really like christmas and couldn't be bothered delivering presents.

For kids that are of age to understand.....that's just so wrong, i got really annoyed by it

Frankly, I think it's a real shame that what Santa does or doesn't do has become so important.

i agree with kinks.

This is the one time of year when something - santa - should be kept nice.If kids are too young to understand he isnt real, let them keep the illusion.Adult shows can disparage santa as much as they like but if this was aimed at kids, it is wrong.

We can only be kids once.

Cynicism and skepticism and disillusionment come soon enough into our lives.

I hope what I’m about to say isn’t seen as cynical. I just think we should consider Santa from a different perspective for a moment.

When poor children don’t get what they asked of Santa should they just assume they were naughty?

When a child makes a wish and gets what they wished for from someone who lives at the North Pole what does it teach them about the value of what they receive?

When a child is told Santa isn’t real what do they think of the truth? Does truth lose a little of its importance?

When a child is told Christmas is about Christ and they’ve been told for the past 7 or 8 years it’s about Santa will they believe it’s about Christ? Might they think that Christ is just another fantasy they are being asked to believe in?
