The Serpent and the Rainbow.

The first American Werewolf, but that may have been late 70's. (1981)

**Edit** I got beat on the American Werewolf. I love that movie, it still scares me.

I've never seen American Werewolf. But I'm not a fan of gory movies. :o

E.T. was made in 80's I think. But I always liked Flight of the Navigator better.

It is an awesome movie. I still can not watch it by myself and I ain't scared of anything. It just makes me jump.

E.T. was the very first movie I watched in a theater. I remember my dad had an old chevy silverado, red, and I can see myself sitting on the floorboard under my mom's feet soaking in the heat. It came out in '82 so I was 5.

I'll have to see if I can find it and try watching it. Not guaranteeing anything though. LOL. I couldn't watch Shaun of the Dead the other night with the hubby.

It is gory but not as much as most movies today. It is more the suspense. I'll post a clip.

Why the hell will some threads allow embedding and others won't? Especially the writing forum?

The 80s were tremendous as far as movies went - how about Yeelen (one of the best films ever made, that), Brazil, A Passage to India, Local Hero, Gandhi, The Life of Brian, The Killing Fields, A Short Film About Killing, Ninja and the Warriors of Fire, Ninja Avengers, Ninja Commandments, Ninja Death Squad, Ninja Extreme Weapons, Ninja in Action, Ninja Kill, Ninja Operation: Licensed to Terminate, Ninja Phantom Heroes, The Ninja Showdown, Ninja Supremo, Ninja vs. Ninja, Ninja: Silent Assassin and Ninjas Condors 13.

At least I left out Zombies Replay Ninja III, it really didn't work for me.

On the other hand I just checked and Peking Opera Blues scrapes into the 80s as well so I'll have that instead. I've never seen a movie quite like that, it was wonderful.

Others I can think of Kramer vs Kramer - love Meryl Streep

Romancing the Stone - love Kathleen Turner

Ghost - love Patrick

I love most everything John Travolta's in - can't think of his movies right now..

Some Kind of Wonderful

The Outsiders

Tex

Pretty in Pink

Sixteen Candles

Was MASK an 80s movie? The one with Cher and Eric Stoltz?

If so, that tops my list.

Do you know what I can still remember that raw emotion I felt for Danny, remember the carnival scene with the mirror when he appears to look normal. jeeez that pulled at my heart strings...

Another tear jerker for me was The Champ, 1979 (remake)so just misses out but boy I loved that film..:)
