Question about The Shield

Post by Snooze »

I just finished watching the 3rd season on DVD and one thing is really bugging me... why did they have Dutch, who up till this point was an attractive and sympathetic character, kill a cat with his bare hands? I really liked him till now, but that was way over the line... and now they've got him adopting a tiny kitten. Where the hell could this story arc being going?

No, it was a stray that had been keeping him awake, and he went outside one night to give it food. He started petting it and ended up breaking it's neck.

It was completely out of character.

strange i dont know the series you refer to but it seems maybe they are setting up that he has memeory lapses - he killed the cat then bought the kitten, or an alter ego, or something like that.

He had had some interactions with a serial killer that had some animal torture/killing in his past, so I'm assuming they (the writers of the show) were trying to show how he was empathizing... but if they have him kill that little kitten, they're going to get some very harsh words from me.

Yeah, I know. Big deal. But I'm sure I'm not the only viewer concerned about this.

were the interactions shown or implied - maybe they are leading the viewer to the conclusion that it was him all along.
