What was your first car and how was it?
My first car was a mini. It was falling apart but I loved it. I used to drive around with my 3 GSD on the back seat (:wah: yes, and for those of you who remember how small the old mini was that was an achievement). We would all load up and go for a drive and find somewhere to walk. I remember once we all arrived at Westbury White Horse (Wiltshire) and people just watched in amazement as we all got out of my mini.

My first and only was a 1965 Mustang Fastback in cherry red with white interior, all original. It had been my grandmother's, bought new. (I had a classy grandmother
) Everyone seemed to love that car including me.

Mine was an 86 Austin Metro that had no suspension on one side. It got robbed so often that it became a training vehicle for young joyriders I think, but we always found it, or it was even left back on the same street. Eventually it was properly robbed and was last seen being joy-ridden round the Phoneix Park in Dublin in 1997. A sad day for the little blue POS.

me too galbally, i loved it to bits, till it fell to pieces, although it was about 30th hand when i bought it for £200 in 1994.Or it might have been £100 i cant now remember. It really should have been condemned, that car, but no matter, it was mine.Bits fell off it continuously - the light bulbs, the levers, bits of the floor, bits of the doorframe..
When i first passed my test though, i was nervous and wanted a car that if i backed it into a pole, it was so battered already it wouldnt matter.
It had a choke that car, and never actually liked moving forwards very much.Or starting.Which is a bit of a character flaw in a car.

I had a dodge charger. Really fast.
What was your first car and how was it?
I was kinda lucky ?
See I met my husband when the seat belt on an old 1972 mini van he was repairing jammed with me stuck in the seat !
Years later when I passed my test he came home with some brochures and dropping them on the table he said 'Ive told the garage you will ring tomorrow and let them know what colour you want'
He had bought me a brand new Mini.. It was Lipari blue a D reg thats 1986/7
Even though it was new bits dropped off it like a dog sheds hair, but hey thats British Engineering for you..Sometimes if I went over a bump the lights would go out , it leaked oil like only a mini can and it had carpet that curled up under the brake pedal not good when trying to stop! But the engine... oh boy the engine was sweet even though it was only 1000cc it went like a rocket. I went everywhere in that car day trips to the seaside or zoo with the kids, I even took them on their first trip to france in it. (Abby was only 3mths)
I sold it when we moved to Holland.
Ive had loads of different cars over the years but my first love however impractical are the old style mini's.:-4

And now im remebering that car - the engine timing was way out and would just go suddenly, usually halfway up a hill, she would be revving and revving and geting less and less power, and not getting anywhere, and people honking me, and all i could do was sit there and wait for her to decide to move again.
And she would kangeroo hop for no good reason either, not because of anything i did with the gears.
Sometimes i think she was just enjoying the scenery too much to want to move anywhere.......
OMG and there was the time the brakes failed entirely!!!!

Was a Dodge colt, made in 70's I think. It was smurf blue, the exhaust fumes leaked into the car, the bottom was rusting out, and a standard. My friends called it the smurfmobile. The door locks didn't work, so it never failed if I left it parked somewhere on main street to go ride with another friend. Someone would push start it, and steal it to cruise main street in. :wah:
Fifth gear was a separate gear knob, and a previous owner had put a sticker on it that said light speed. :wah:

In 1990 my husband bought me a 1986 Teal green Camaro. It was a stanard.I don't like standard transmissions. But i loved that car. It had a 350 motor, with way too much power. It was broken into two times and my stero, amps and sreakers were stolen. A third time it was broken into they took the whole car. And wreaked it pretty bad. We had to junk it after that.:-1
This is not a picture of my camaro. All my old pictures aren't on the computer. Mine was a little more teal greener.

My first car was a 1968 Chevrolet Caprice. Loved it. Ran it into a tree.
My second car was a 1969 Chevrolet Impala. I loved it even more than the Caprice. Not enough to avoid another tree, unfortunately. At least the second time the damage was more symmetrical, so obviously my aim was improving.

Those were great! Fits the entire senior class in the trunk for going to the drive-in. :wah:
Did it have a starter switch on the floor, or am I thinking of a different car?

My first car was a 1971 BMW 2002. I bought it for $3,000 in 1974. It had 43,000 miles on it and I drove that little puppy to 362,000 miles. I could see the street in the floorboard underneath the drivers seat. I actually sold it for $300.00. My second car was a 1984 oldsmobile I bought when my husband threw a fit about the BMW and how it was no longer safe for me or the baby I was carrrying. My third car was a 1995 Toyota pick-up. Yep - you guessed it. I'm still driving the Toyota. I figure I still have 150,000 miles left on it.

The only car I ever had that was truly my own was a Morris 1000 Traveller, like the one in the picture, only it was 'ivory' colour. I believe it was a 1965 reg. Somebody called it a 'haff timbered ka' !! Once I had changed the 'crossply' tyres to 'radials' it handled very well. I needed a good reliable car to carry all my amps, guitars, etc to gigs, and found that with the rear seat back in the 'up' position I could stow all my stuff in very securely and tightly. It was a brilliant car and would always start 'first button', and if the battery ever went so flat that it wouldn't start on the button, I could 'crank ' start it with it's handle (usually only one turn). Shame they don't have that facility with cars these days ! It was no slouch either, I remember in an emergency having to put my foot down to get somewhere like yesterday, she reached 95 mph no trouble, and there was more left, but I kept it below 100 mph because she was due for a service !! :wah: That's womens' logic for you  I kept that car for many years till the woodwork needed attention, and sold it to a fella who renovated Morris 1000 Travellers. No I didn't loose on the deal either !
I didn't have another car of my own till the current one a Volvo T5 Turbo saloon in white - a beautiful car to drive, takes no prisoners ! My son has christened it Jaws for some reason :wah: Well it is supposed to be the 'family' car, but my name is on the reg. document, and besides they've got a Reliant Rialto each :yh_rotfl - which I cannot comfortably get into to drive, because of a hip joint disability. So the Volvo is MINE

I had a Minnie Mayfair when I lived in Swindon. I could adjust the passenger-side wing mirror from the driver's seat.

A 1972 Buick Century that was going to be dumped, I picked it up for $100.00
It got about 25 miles to the gallon. By the time I ditched it, to get it stared I had to hold open the carburettor and spray an aerosol spray into it while someone else turned the on the ignition, a fame would shoot out of the carburettor as it started. I don’t know how my parents let me drive that deathtrap.

My first vehicle was a 1980 Chevy pickup. Being a country boy that is nothing out of the ordinary. My first car was a 1992 Camaro. Loved the car, but because of too many speeding tickets it had to go. Looked virtually like the one in the pic.:driving:

my first car was a 1951 Volkswagen Beetle I bought off a friend in the pub for £20 - he'd tried to get it through the MOT four times and failed.
I was desperate for transport as my bike (Norton Commando) had shaken itself to pieces and I couldn't afford to replace it.
It lasted long enough for me to learn to drive and pass my test before it was replaced by a Singer Chamois.
