The parents of a girl who died after the quad bike she was riding was in collision with a Range Rover said their daughter had "changed their world".
Seven-year-old Elizabeth Cooke, from Blackmore near Brentwood, Essex, died in hospital from injuries sustained in the crash on Boxing Day.
Her mother, Clare Batt, 34, said: "We are all privileged and proud to have shared your wonderful life."
A 28-year-old woman questioned about the crash is due to answer police bail.
She had been driving a Range Rover and was arrested after police learned of the accident.
The crash occurred in Fingrith Hall Lane, just outside the village of Blackmore, on Boxing Day.
The girl and her 10-year-old brother, Jack, were both riding their new bikes behind their father's car when the accident occurred.
Flowers have been left outside the family home
She was initially taken to her home, about half a mile away, before ambulance crews were called.
Police said they would speak to Mr Cooke as part of routine inquiries and he could yet face criminal charges.
A police spokesman said it was illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to ride a quad bike on a public road.
Elizabeth's father said: "No-one could begin to imagine how much it has devastated the village and our close family."
Her mother said: "You have had and given us the most amazing seven years any mum and dad could dream of.
"We watched you grow from a small baby to a beautiful princess who was perfect in every way. Sleep tight you beautiful angel."
A post-mortem examination is due to take place.
This story is so sad and my heart goes out to the parents who have lost their cherished daughter, BUT jeez why oh why did they let them drive them bikes like that........They are only suitable in large grassy or tarmaced areas...NOT ROADS!

It's a bloody harsh lesson to learn isn't it. That poor family.
Only this morning we took our grandson out on his quad bike - the difference is that it's one designed for young children, my husband and I walked beside him at all times and he stayed on the pavement or grass. I thought of that poor little girl a lot today:-1

too many unanswered questions - they were out at 7 at night when its dark, for the first time? Why not in the day if they were unused to the bikes?.
If you saw their house on the news you will know they have a driveway big enough to fit a few football pitches into so why werent they riding in safety in their own driveway?

I really have to say that this is one of those terrible tragic stories where you feel sorry for the child and her family, but you have to ask yourself what in the name of god were they doing getting a quad bike for a 7 year old
, we have 2 quads on the research park, and they are powerful, fast, and quite dangerous machines, perhaps these were lower powered, but still it seems an insanely dangerous present to buy a young child, no doubt they will have to being legislation in for these things.

And I am sure they must have heard what happened to Rik Mayall and Ozzy Osbourne.

Its illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to ride a quad bike on a public road.
I think that maybe even this law should be tightened. No one under 14 to ride one at all, they are powerful machines. They should definately be wearing proper clothing and crash helmets too.

absolutely stupid. I cant believe they thought it was a good idea to let a small child handle a powerful vehicle that shed never even used before, in the dark, on a public country road.
Those country roads are the worst tbh, because most of them are national speed limit with no pavements next to them. cars just race down there - im not saying thats what happened, but it WAS an accident waiting to happen, and if that car hadnt hit her, it could easily have been the next one

I'm sorry for this tragedy, mostly I am sorry for the little girl who was killed, not by that poor woman but by her father's stupid, irresponsible actions. It beggars belief!! I'm afraid I have more sympathy for the woman who was driving the 4 x 4 vehicle, even though it is suggested that she may have been 'over the limit'.
As on an earlier post, if it had not have been the 4 x 4 vehicle, I've no doubt it could well have been another vehicle that hit that little girl. When are these bl**dy parents going to wake up and find a responsible attitude? I see parental irresponsibility every single day in one form or another. How will the children ever respect the law, rules and regulations, when parents continue to set such stupid examples?
