Very Strange

My Son was up in his room, when i heard him crying. So i went up to see him and he was crouched on the floor by his door, hands over his face, really crying.

I asked him what was wrong ( i thought he hurt himself ) but he just said (still crying) "it's a dog mummy, a dog".

I said to him that there was nothing there and stood him up and tried to get him back in bed, but he would not move, he said "no, it's a dog".

So, i brought him down stairs and watched a bit of t.v.

When i took him back up, he didn't go in his room straight away, he just stood on the landing, looking into his room and then he said "where's it gone? the dog's gone mummy" he even went in and pulled up his quilt gentley, looked under it and said again "it's gone, no dog"

He's now in bed reading a book and he's fine, but it's not the first time this has happened but when it happened before, he didn't say what it was that scared him.

Hmmmn, bit odd alright, Kids do have very strong visual imaginations, but I dunno really, just reassure him and he will probably be alright. I remember when I was little I used to always see ghosts and shapes of things in the shadows created by the parafin heater we had, it used to terrify me, but I got over it eventually, and I was only about 4 or 5, its one of my earliest memories actually.

Did he say the dog scared him or was it hurt and he was crying about him?

I hope he doesn't have anymore bad dreams.

Hi Kinks, you did not say how old your little boy is - but its probably not all that strange, I guess they have pretty wild imaginations.

Yeah i kept reassuring him but i think it was the fact he didn't see it, that made him calm down.

I just hope it doean't happen again, i hate seeing him so scared and upset

When our son was a little boy he used to see a drummer boy with his red & white coat,big brass/gold buttons in his bedroom.

As far as we knew he had never seen anything like that in movies etc as he was about 6 at the time.

We used to live in a town where they used to have a convict settlement.

When we left that house he never saw the drummer boy again.

It was very strange & happened quite a lot.:-6

It was the dog that scared him, that's why he wouldn't go back to bed

He's almost 3, and didn't think they had such an imagination at that age

Just letting you know our experience.

It went on for about 18 months at first he was very scared but after a while he must have sensed no harm was coming his way.

i was just thinking of how freaky it must have been for him

I'm glad he got over being scared :-6 but 18 months is still a long time for it to happen

At the time we couldn't move from the house,which is what I wanted to do.

It didn't happen every night,it was only now & then the drummer boy would visit.

Our son is a grown man now & we often talk about his "drummer boy"

While we were on hols last year we drove past the house & I wanted to go in & ask had they had any similar experiences. The kids veto'd that idea.

They said the owners will think you are a fruitloop

Kinks, awww....sweet little guy, in my experience...yes ...kids have a GREAT imagination at that age...my oldest son was the only one that I remember having long-term imaginary friends, we still talk about them from time to time...If we were out in public.....he used to go to a pay phone and have to call his imaginary dog named Sara, who was having puppies in the hospital. He also had a dog named chubby (one of Sara's puppies) that always did bad things in the house, if something spilled or broken...."Chubby did it!":eek:



I would definately keep a close eye on him, he definately is seeing/feeling something. I was wondering if he saw something on the TV that bothered him?

My husband/family/children & grandchildren say I live in a permanent state of "fruitloopness."

Spirits are often seen by children because kids, especially young ones, are very receptive and open. They haven't established many boundaries yet. Perhaps he really did see a dog spirit but maybe it was just a dog who had lived in the house at one time and not one meant to scare him. Most kids have a natural love for animals so that may also be why the dog spirit was shown.

Not saying for sure that's what it was, just offering that up as a possibility.

I was thinking that, he must have seen something, he doesn't usually make things up....he says things as he sees them, he's a little tittle tattle....you can't get away with farting in this house, without him telling someone :wah:

Yeah , he was fine, as soon as he went up and said it was gone.....wasn't long till he fell asleep

I agree with Reds perspective on this one Kinks, my son has done similar things over the years and has numerous invisible friends.

Kinks there is much that happens to us in this life that at times you just cant explain.I have no doubt in my mind what so ever that your dear child saw what he said.I know many laugh off certain things but some years ago I went through something and now I dont care what people think.....I KNOW that "this" is just not "it".Its true what Red said and just give him your love as I know you do through times like this and it will get less and less until it will go.Sometimes the gift never leaves .....and thats what it is......Kinks I could be on here all day telling you things that many would find interesting whilst others would just laugh at but none of that matters as sometimes you have to experience something in life for you to believe certain things.Also remember that its not the dead you have to be afraid of......its the living.Maybe give this dog a name even and tell your little boy he wont be hurt by him as he only visits nice children and wants to see if he is ok.Talk soon babexxx

That didn't even cross my mind.......it's only happened twice in about 4 months, he was fine when he went to bed tonight,:) so maybe a while till it happens again, guess i'll just have to wait and see
