what party are you?

I know some people aren't comfy answering this and that's cool, but I was wondering what political parties we have represented at FG? Do you tend to vote strictly by party or do you vote more for the individual?

Libertarian here.

I vote for the individual I think will do the best job.

I'm Republican, but I always vote for whom I think is the best candidate. Party lines do not dictate my vote.

None taken, I have my opinions of the other party also, but this thread asked for party affiliation.

I am the lone Republican in the household, 2 children Democrats, my husband is Independant.

I've been told I'm either Libertarian or Anarchist, but I don't register with a party. I always vote for the closest to ideal candidate I can find, which is usually someone without a prayer to win. People tell me I'm throwing my vote away, but I think if everybody voted for their ideal rather than who the parties and media says will win, my guy would win most of the time. Which of course means that all those other people are throwing their votes away, not me.

I've been both a republican election judge and a democratic election judge... i guess they just looked at what i had declared in a previous primary. Now I just don't vote in the primary, so they leave me alone.

I think it's that I would have to see someone as really outstanding in either party in order to vote for them in a primary and when it's come down to it, they are basically the same.

I'm pretty sure I haven't been a Reform party voter since stockdale

I lean more towards the democrats as far as the two major parties ... but I wouldn't mind voting for republicans like Ron Paul.

Overall I'd prefer a mixed government .. where's there's a broad diversity of opinion and some compromise on issues.

I always used to vote labour, but the last few electins ive voted green een though i know theyll never win. I just couldnt bring myself to vote for blair after that first time.

Ill have to see how Gordon Brown goes. I do prefer him in general.

Last time was the first ever national election in which I managed to vote for the party which won. I voted Heath and Heath lost, I voted Wilson and Wilson lost, I've been the kiss of death ever since unless last time means I've finally worked out the pattern.

I've always voted for any party that supported PR. Until we get that nothing will change and the same old depressing mediocrities get in. Up until the trump episode the SNP were behginning to look interesting-seems they're just as corrupt and self serving as the rest of the,.

It baffles me that any US poster can imagine that the Democratic Party has the least hint of socialism about it, not so much as one drop in all that ocean of capitalist-enabling manifest destiny. Where's the safety net?

I ran for office as a Republican once. I found out that even at the local level I had to sell out to the base of one party or the other to draw enough money to be elected. To be elected as a Republican you have to sell out to business and owe them after being elected and as a Democrat you have to sell out to labor and owe them. Since then I have evolved to the point that I recently had to declare I have no party. It left me feeling a little uncomfortable though, it's like I'm being squishy when my intent is to be firm as an individual.

The Argentinians started that one. Arguably it was in our interests to get the falklands back. No i don't want to get in a debate about yje wrongs and rights of it. I don't think she would have got involved with invading Iraq the second time as it was not in our interests to do so-nor IMO would she have been so keen to suck up to Bush at the expense of UK' interests. Course I could be totally wrong. I can't stand either of them.

I am registered as a democrat, but to me, voting for the best candidate outweighs party lines.

I'm conservative in the traditional sense of the word (sometimes known as an Eisenhower conservative), which puts me somewhere left of center in today's political climate. I'm registered democrat. The republican party is the party of neo-conservatives.
