Its great to go through life, and gain wisdom. But like a cake, needing all of the ingredients to be good... Tolerance and Patience are imperative, for sucessful interaction with others. A milestone for me this past year was embracing the art of acceptance. Doing so, made my life less painful, and brought me much needed peace. The reason I love being part of this forum is because I learn by listening, as well as contributing. Being here has taught me so much about my fellow man. One of the biggest reasons why I have never been able to sustain a relationship, is because of my lack of tolerance.

The reason I am lousy with children, is because of my lack of patience. Often, I fall into the trap of expecting people to have exactly my standards of thinking. When it appears to me that they dont, my tolerance and my patience level goes down to zero. Its ugly:wah: Yeah, I say what I mean, and I mean what I say.... but Id like to always sprinkle the batter with a little love. So now that Ive graduated the acceptance class... this year Im going to enroll in Tolerance, and Patience. I will become a better person, before I die.... if it kills me.:wah:

:wah: I understand I enrolled in the Tolerance and Patience course when my Daughter and Granddaughter came to live with me about 6 years ago. It was rough going at first. I truly thought it was going to kill me.;)

It was worth the effort our relationship is great now. She found her way and is married to a wonderful man and I'm a happy camper with my new found "Patience and Tolerance". I think the hardest thing I learned was to keep my mouth shut and think before I spoke.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

Good post weeder, I am still trying to find mine. I know that with age, a person gains more patience and tolerance (at least most people do), I would like to think that I am just becoming more like my mother, a very kind and giving person, but also a person with a lot of tolerance and patience too - a real saint.

"Tolerence" is a harsh word. Meaning.." I don't like something, but I'll put up with it."

How about "empathy"? How about "compassion"?

I empathise with people suffering. I have great compassion for the needy the weak, or a host of other human conditions. But to name a few, I have zero tolerance for self centerdness, greed, narrow mindedness, predjiduce, opportunists... you know just your standard run of the mill annoyances.
