YOU ALL KNOW that I am as old as the hills.
YOU PROBABLY ALL KNOW that age discrimination is alive and well and thriving.
My daughter in Tampa has told us that she wants us to go out on the 28th November because our fourteen year old grand daughter is playing the leading part in a play and also our eight year old grandson has his birthday on Christmas Day which usually means a birthday party in early December.
We will, God Willing, be back in the first week in January. 2008.
How many of you have had problems with your older relatives getting REASONABLY PRICED travel insurance.
So far I have been asked for up to £3,000 for my wife and I.
Others say no holiday longer than 17 days.
Others say no annual travel insurance for the over 64's
I am still trying to scour the internet.
It is both a jungle and a nightmare out there so some help would be greatly appreciated.
We have no very serious life threatening diseases or conditions and can walk for miles - we have to, our daughter's house is three miles from the nearest shop.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
God Bless You All

Hi Randall,
Have you tried the Post Office, Tesco and Saga??
I tend to stick with the post office but my Dad and Mum who are over the 64's group tend to go with Saga or their Bank Lloyds.
Might be worth a try :-6

Travel Question
How nice to know that there is someone on FG older than I am. Although I believe in the use of insurance, I would skip the travel insurance for the relatively short trip that you will be taking. Irrespective of what you may have heard, if you have a major health problem, you will not be denied medical attention. BTW-------I lived in Tampa for three years.

Many thanks SuzyB and Lon for your advice,
A lot has happened since you wrote your replies and the holiday was safely navigated and thoroughly enjoyed.
My wife and I did try all the holiday insurance companies - and the Post Office - but surprisingly enough it was CHURCHILL (Royal Bank of Scotland) that provided us with an insurance covering 46 days, a length of time that no other firm was even able to come close to and some absolutely refused to cover anything near that time.
They only charged a few hundred pounds - I have lost the sheets but I think it was about £350.00 - not bad for peace of mind.
Now my daughter wants us to be with her for a week in her brother in laws' Spanish residence near Malaga and again Churchill has under cut eveyone by charging £140.00p as we have decided to have an extra week in Spain by ourselves.
Now we are trying to search for accommodation for the second week that is not too expensive.
Last year I was certainly not myself by starting it with double pneumonia and my wife with ongoing severe bronchitis and then falling and breaking her ribs in August .
However, on arrival in Tampa, summer weather in wintertime according to the weather boys and girls, my son in law gave me an interesting book to read.
"The Great Cholesterol Con." by Anthony Colpo and I recommend it to all who are on statins.
My neighbours were surprised when I took ill as, they say, I never take any serious illness. After reading the book I remembered that I was put casually onto statins with any great discussion with my doctor two years ago and now am convinced that that drug undermined my general health which eventually brought on the pneumonia.
The side effects recorded in the book - and well documented, even by NASA - are too many to list here but indicate a lowering of the body's general ability to fight off infection.
The medical fraternity may disagree but I do wish they would discuss all these modern drugs/chemicals they casually tell you to take before they give them to you.
I trust that this year will be a much more healthier year for both of us.
God bless all.
