Further to a previous conversation on the subject of 'heat', I can now advise that my local radio station - KYW1060 - has now decided that the weather merits the term 'hot'.
Around two weeks ago they moved up from 'quite warm' (temps in the high 80s and low 90s) to 'hot' (95 plus).
Today they excelled themselves by describing the weather as 'A NAILING HEAT'. (whatever that is).
I didn't catch the peak temperature today (it was earlier forecast to be 'quite possibly triple-digit') but according to AccuWeather at 6.50pm it was 96 degrees on Independence Mall in downtown Philadelphia.
A 'nailing heat' indeed!

Heat!
Here in New England "they" closed the "Schools" early today due to the excessive heat!!! Varying temps listed between 94 to 97. The class rooms are not airconditioned, so School officials said it was too hot for the kids to Learn! So they let the kids out at the "Hottest" part of the day! (12:30 to 1:00pm)

It's like living in a perpetual winter.........so be pleased to see all that lovely sunshine and wonderful light.
Hi there Tinseltoes
Well - it is nice to have guaranteed sunshine and light. The problem is, however, that from June through mid-Sept in this part of America it's only possible to go out and enjoy the sunshine either early in the morning (the bast time) or in the evenings (when it gets to be a little 'buggy').
I wouldn't want your weather, though. For it to be cold, raining with a max of around 57 degrees in June must be something of a nightmare!
Our winters here in Pennsylvania are very cold with lots of snow so we have to pay for the hot summers.
The best time to visit this area is late Sept or October when the days are warm and the nights wonderfully cool (no air-conditioning needed) and the humidity has dropped off a lot.
