Smashed Knees

Post by weeder »

Do we ever think much about our knees? Ive been thinking about mine quite a bit lately. Its like they felt neglected, and wanted to remind me they were there. I got the message. There are these little steps (2) leading in and out of the kitchen at the restaurant, About ten days ago, my toe hit the step, and I fell, like a sack of laundry, down on the kitchen floor..... smashing my right knee. The pain running down my leg was excruciationg. Last Friday night, just around the time that the knee was getting better.....

You got it. I tripped on the same step. Fell. With an armload of dishes. In front of everyone that I work with.. AND SMASHED THE LEFT KNEE... WORSE THAN THE RIGHT. Being the only old bag working in the place, I jumped up like a gazelle... refused any help, and practically did a ballet leap to cover my humiliation. I did feel better when they told me that nearly everyone has fallen on this step. Anyway, I have been quite crippled for a couple of days, and have had the perfect excuse for sitting here or taking naps ( To get off the gams) for my two days off. Take it from me.. Protect your knees. It isnt pretty when they get damaged.

I had to use a knee brace today

I'm not sure what I did to my right knee - but one small wrong turn and Pain & on goes the brace. OMG it hurts. It certainly slows me down & pisses me off..

With all of the outdoor work I have done.... I have never hurt my knees. This double whammy was a killer. It also seems that once you hurt your knee it is weakened and prone to new injury. I may need a brace for the left one. It really hurts. Hope yours is better.

Watch the knees Weeder if they are swollen you may need an antinflamatory or get them checked out. Often time blows like that can cause damage and water on the knee. Ice then heat will take the swelling down. But if not better soon see a doctor please.

I'm off to the Doctor Thursday for my knee - can't take the pain.

I was hauling firewood - I remember stomping on some for kindling and it didn't break - that was before C'mas. The swelling went down and I had to baby it.

Its been hurting off & on ever since.

Today it just sprung into a pain from hell and I can't put any pressure on it.

OMG - this is the last thing I need..

A couple of weeks back my right knee was acting up, I've no idea why. Going downstairs more than going up, but it stopped me taking them two at a time. It's gone away now but I'm sure it'll be back in years to come.

Actually banging them against the floor seems counter-productive though. Have you considered wearing knee-pads as a fashion accessory? It might catch on, I can see that working.

Did you break a dish?
