Hi - my name is Mike. I found this site by accident while on Google and was quite impressed with the concept. A community that isn't all about match-making and romance - finally!
My interests are music, computers, gadgets, books and movies and other countries and their peoples (UK, especially). Anyone who wants to be an e-pal is welcome to write me.

Thanks to all of you for your great hellos!
I'm sorry I haven't posted a reply here earlier - been down with a cold for a few weeks and I'm also frantically trying to jump on to any new IT contract in the DC area.
AussiePam, you resemble my girlfriend who I live with!
To all the UK'ers, great to hear from you, the closest I've got to anything UK is the Irish bar in Old Towne, Alexandria VA (where I'm based) called O'Connells. Great Irish staff and Irish-owned, too. My gal pal and I love to go down there once a week and yak with the lads (and a nice Aussie girl named Merrin) who tend the bar.
To the computer geeks - yeah I've done mainframe, life was SO simple in the 80's! COBOL rocks.So again, sorry I've been neglectful - will try to be more active here.
Cheers, slainte, umm...what's Welsh for cheers? Anybody help me?
Mike

Hmmm...I'd break my tongue trying to pronounce THAT! How about "nanoo, nanoo" instead? You remember Mork's universal sign-off?
JCL? Nahhh..I used DEC VAX Digital Command Language.
Today, it's Microsoft-sprechen - VBA, that sort of thing.

Did you get near the IBM/360's DOS? I was horrified the first time I worked on one of those. What's amazing is that I was still using exactly the same syntax when I went back to an IBM environment twenty years after.
Here, I even found an example://IS198CPY JOB (IS198T30500),'COPY JOB',CLASS=L,MSGCLASS=X
//COPY01 EXEC PGM=IEBGENER
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*

// DISP=(NEW,CATLG,DELETE),
// SPACE=(CYL,(40,5),RLSE),
