My Friends Uncle has been captured by Pirates???

No, I'm not joking, I won't mention names, but some British nationals and an Irish national have been captured by pirates off the Somalian coast, one of them is my friend's uncle. It's hard to know what to say to someone whose relative ends up in a situation involving pirates, :-2 but hopefully they will release them all unharmed sooner rather than later. How strange.

I saw that on the news last night, at first I thought it was going to be a joke, pirates in the 21st centrury... but it is real and serious.

I hope that you friends uncle will be OK.

It is a strange one alright, not something you expect to happen, but I have heard before about it becomming a serious problem in some parts of the world. Hopefully they won't hurt him.

That's awful Gal! Hope they are released and not harmed. I read a few ago that pirates were becoming a huge problem off the coasts of Africa.

Is there a link to this story? I really am interested in this....I am with Soberano, I think of Peter Pan and Dr. Hook when I think of Pirates...I had no clue that they still exist...I know I sound like a bubble-head, really trying not to.

Peter Pan and Dr. Hook? :wah: Captain Hook. Dr. Hook had a medicine show and wanted to be on the cover of Rolling Stone. I myself think of Erroll Flynn when pirates come up.

Its alright about the derailment, I don't know what the actual situation is other than he has been kidnapped with some other people, I wouldn't say anyone will say anything anyway, as its a bit of a difficult situation to say the least, but I am sure there are people working on how to get them released and what the demands (if any) are. I only heard about it this morning, and I have been busy in work since then, so god knows what's going on out there. Very strange alright, but there you go. I could say "worse things happen at sea" but then this did happen at sea and its pretty bad so I better not be flippant about it in case something terrible happens, oh dear.

Thanks J, but its my friends uncle, not my own uncle, but of course I hope he gets released and everything, hopefully no one will get hurt.
