The word "bimbo" is sometimes interpreted as the backronym "body impressive, brain optional".

well, here's the thing. twice now i've put spot on my ignore list. twice now, it's lasted no more than six hours.

masochism? perhaps. spot pushes my buttons better than most others. i disagree vehemently with a great many - perhaps majority - of his utterances.

but one thing is he's definitely not boring. what he writes tends to be interesting, whether or not i agree with it. and i'm drawn to interesting discussion, even though often our discussions devolve into little more than a form of coprophagia.

In saying "gosh, you missed the point of that by a mile", I used a word which carries a connotation of limited intelligence.

Sod political correctness, I'm too old to learn and not remotely interested in public opinion. Either the other half of bimbo is jokingly complimentary, or it's easily discarded.

I have, actually, put someone on my ban list, and he's been there for most of the time I've been around FG. He went on, I've no idea if he still posts or not, I don't really care. So, I'm not against ban lists per se.

I went back and checked why I was so presumptuous as to call Valerie a bimbo. Now I know. It's a response to her jokingly behaving like one - going for the "lighten things up" angle, as she put it: "Me, ME!! (Val frantically waves hand in air!!) Me, BR, I'm aware there are people who want to ban guns!!"

The abbreviation of Valerie's name to Val, together with the use of a mildly derogatory term, was my apparently inept attempt to similarly lighten the tone. I don't do exclamation marks.

i can't say this with certainty, because i haven't looked into it with any great depth, however, smileycentral's smileys, when embedded in posts (or email, or anywhere for that matter), all of them 'phone home' whenever they are displayed. smileycentral keeps track of every time they are displayed, and from the data they send, you'd be surprised how much information they can gather.

i consider them spyware.

i consider them spyware.They live on the remote server, you're running Red-Hat / Apache, blocking them from the threads is a trivial configuration option. I know you know that already, but telling the world your opinion isn't going to stop them from cropping up again.

ahem. i did not say i was interested in preventing their use here, did i? i didn't say that i objected to people using them, did i? i was informing people who may not be aware, that they may be considered spyware, and to beware.

On my way home last nite (concidentally) The announcer on the radio was talking about guns and I liked his saying

What is the doctor's fee in the UK and USA. Here its 50euro and that does not include the Chemist/Drug store bill.:-5

here in canada our dr. visit is covered by provincial health care, then if we have a health plan through our work we receive more coverage for other things. Ie I pay $63.50/month for my plan this covers both me and my children and when we have perscriptions the plan covers 80% of those costs. This is ideal since I am paying one daughters monthly meds.

These guys rip you off. I never get sick. The odd sneeze leading to flu,that's about all. But why should I pay into a health plan I ask myself. Dead and lost money. I'd sonner have it in my bank.

I know you only said UK and USA but here in Spain its 40Ã¢š¬ to see the doc, and 16Ã¢š¬ each perscription, thats if you dont pay into what we call social (national ins) 225Ã¢š¬ per month then its free..
