Bucks dispatchers disciplined for 911 call

Post by Pheasy »

I was initially appalled when I first heard this story on the news. However, the lady was only put on hold for 30 seconds, the emergency services dispatched within 1 minute and arrived within 3 mins. Its very sad that the lady died, but the media seem to be very much focusing on the 30 second hold, thus people believing that her death could of been prevented. Three mins from inital call to emergency arrival is amazing.

I've called 911 several times & been put on hold.

In this case I doubt the out come would've been any different.

Slow News Day..

I agree, the response time was pretty good but when you're dialling for help 30 seconds seems like a lifetime.

According to the investigation, there were 10 emergency dispatchers available to answer the phone call, but they didn't.

I DO see a problem here.

Yes it would be nice to know what they were doing, and why any hold was necessary. It was only for 30 seconds, but they should really tell the public why any hold was necessary - 30 seconds or otherwise.

They're emergency responders for heaven's sake! Why would they even put someone in a crisis ON HOLD!??! What if you were having a heart attack? Those 30 seconds could mean life or death. That's just one number I don't want to hear the words, "Please hold" when I dial it! Sorry... I'll jump off my soap box now.

911 system needs to be revised or they need to hire more help.

My husband was having a heart attack - I was put on hold

all I could do is pace - panic - cry

I have a home security system that also has instant emergency contact

I was on hold and I push every button available.

Sometime the 911 system is so bogged down that the calls are rerouted to other areas in town.

Everyone should look into their 911 system in their area

Recently my neighbor needed assistance - I called 911 and was put on hold, again...
