Confessing our sins

Post by weeder »

I get really furious at people who judge other people. It like, to me.. dont you have enough going on in your own life, that you have all this time to judge others? I was going to do a thread on The Measure of Sin. Like which sin is greater than this one. I decided to think about my own sins, and confess.

I have been known to eat cookies in the supermarket... but then, not purchase the bag. It is so sleazy. I convince myself that I have every right to do this. I decide, the cookies are stale, or lousy, and I get very angry at the supermarket. I get very anxious about getting caught, and I have my excuses all ready. This is my way of rebelling. Being bad. Feeling like I am breaking my moral code.

For many years I had a secret hobby. I would steal a magazine from any Doctor, or Dentist office I visited. I found this to be very thrilling. I got the biggest kick out of laughing at myself. The hobby fufilled my secret desire to be a jewel thief. Again, I would always have my excuses planned, if I were caught. " Oh, is this yours?? or.. " I thought it was mine. I decided that if I were in the middle of reading something, that I had every right to finish the article. Or, I decided that the 2.75 for the magazine offset the cost of the 600.00 doctors visit. I dont steal magazines anymore, as I cannott afford to visit Doctors or Dentists, and I really dont have time to lay around reading magazines.

Those are my two confessions. I guess its the same with big sins like committing adultery. It fills a need. Satisfys a desire for entitlement, and creates the euphoric feeling derived from being bad.

My cookie stealing hurts the supermarket, and consumers because the supermarket will have to raise its prices to cover theft.

My penchant for magazine theft costs the office, and deprives another patient from reading a life changing piece of information.

The adulter hurts his loved ones, breaks trust, has the potential to destroy a family... blah blah blah.

How do we decide which sin is greater than another? Who should decide?

We are all sinners. if you examine your life and actions closely, surely you will come up with something to own up to. Greed, lust, gluttony, envy, jealously. ambivelence, pedjiduce. How awful it must be to not only have to examine ones own coinsciense, and keep it clean. But to also have the added responsibility of judging others, and determining the punishment they should receive.

yep much like "don't tell me how to keep my front porch till yours is cleaned up" eh

ever wonder if our "judging people" passion stems from say oh I dunno the media.... how they are always glorifying things such as beauty, guns, fast cars, bad guys, big homes... yep sets off the "envy" radar in folks doesn't it and makes many people strive for things better, and greater at all cost.

Ah, we all do things daily we wish we could undo. I think I get cranky at others, and should learn more patience. I got mad when someone wrote on my new whiteboard yesterday-a silly thing I know, I wanted it to stay new for as long as possible in my new classroom. I felt sorry afterwards, although I understand why. It is no excuse I know, but I have only had two very big things that were new in my life. My mobile home in L.A.- which I saved ten years to buy, so my children could live in a home and not an apartment. And my car, my husband bought me the only new car I have ever had. I will never get another one, I don't see the reasoning for it within my psyche. But I should take more time to rationalize these things, before speaking. I will have to apologize to the one who wrote on the whiteboard-an adult, not a child-when I return on Tuesday.:-1

Mostly Milanos... you know Pepperidge Farm? Its only when I am very, very, hungry. I feel the supermarket should feed me while I shop. Otherwise, I buy everything in sight.

There are many people who feel that way Chezzie. But remember, if you were me, at any given moment I am spied... shuffling along, in flip flops with sox... a cigarette dangling from my lips, and talking to myself. You dont get many dates!!:wah:

I USED to hide the bag.... but that is incriminating. I graduated to simply LEAVING it somewhere. Like, when you get your bread, you leave the bag on the shelf... in full view. Then you can say " oops, forgot my cookies!!! They would never prosecute you for being confused, or semi senile.

I remember the bread you were "savouring" in Redruth Tesco whilst we were shopping...when we reached the checkout, there wasn't a lot of the loaf left. And wasn't there some ham involved too? :wah:

Weeder shame on you....:wah::wah: Cookie monster..:D

I judge no one except child predators of any kind. My judgement of them is simple kill them and save the tax payers money on the scum.

Growing up my father sat all 3 of us down (I have 2 sisters) and gave us this speech. "If your going to steal you better damn be sure it was worth going to jail for." end of speech. Well that put the fear of God in all of us and we never thought about taking anything ever.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

I have vague recollections of Weeder doing this on the journey home too, only this time it involved chocolate pastries from M & S :wah:

I'm pretty sure I did something nice for someone, just to **** off someone else. The thing is that I don't think I realized it until after the fact... or it may have just been a bonus:thinking:

I was in the grocery store today and when I passed by the Milanos the whole ugly sordid affair made me feel dirty.
