Not load their faces up with crap... dress their age... and not be gripped with fear over getting older. Julie Christie in the movie Away From Her, is absolutely Gorgeous. Sally Field , Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon,,, they all look beautiful. Understated class.

Why should we worry about looking "young". Let's just look good and feel good.

It really is a genetic thing. My mother is 81 and doesn't have 1 wrinkle. I'm holding up so far but I do have a few wrinkles I take after my dad's side of the family.

True as you age less makeup is the way to go, you just look softer and more natural.

I had lots of sun damage living here here Paradise, its hard not to get in the sun. About six months ago I have a Microderma abrasion, and a rejuvsomething or other. It really works removed a ton of dark spot off my neck, face, and upper chest. Very pleased with the results just makes your skin look refreshed and pores smaller, deminishes the lines about the eyes and mouth. :D
ALOHA!!

MOTTO TO LIVE BY:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

I must admit when I was younger I used to put quite alot of "slap" on my face but these days the only thing that I put on my skin is cream and I have to say my skin has improved with years as daft as that sounds and also I dont have any wrinkles and my face is in quite good nick .....condition wise I mean lol.I do like some eye make up though still I have to say and I think I look ill without some on:rolleyes:It aint easy gowing old lol:mad::rolleyes:;)

I also think Smoking has a huge part to play . Witout being to rude... some women (maybe i just haven't noticed it on guys) have huge lines around their mouths, from smoking ...i often say to my mum (whos a smoker)...who wants a gob that looks like a dogs arse;) And sun damage is another no no, it also ages the skin prematurely.

I believe most people in the public eye have cosmetic surgery whether they admit it or not ....take Babs Windsor, her boobs have doubled in the last ten years(she still looks bloody good though):thinking::thinking:

I read that the true cause of overall aging and what in the end kills us all is the exact same thing that keeps us alive:

Oxygen.

It is the process of oxygenation that slowly deteriorates us causing aging. The only way to prevent aging is to stop breathing, which of course means ‘only the good die young.’

Celebs have stylists and airbrushing so it's easier for them to look good, catch in daylight it might be different story when they have no slap on and haven't put their wigs on (Barbara Winsor for one!)

I think the secret of looking young is feeling young, having a young attitude towards life.

I compare my mother-in-law who sits in the sun all summer and becomes as brown as a nut, her skin isn't great, she still smokes occasionally but she's mentally young for her age, you wouldn't think she's 78 this year 'cos she's so active and travels a lot. Her sister-in-law is younger, leads a completely sedantary life, shuffles around like she's crapped herself and moans non-stop about how old she is and has been an old, old lady for the last 20 years!!

Me, I look my age, probably older, always have done but what the heck! My hubby is 10 years older than me and looks younger than his years so we probably meet in the middle!!:wah:

My mum's 64 and still working full time, has more energy and zest for life than most 20 year olds. She got pregnant at 16 and forced to marry my bastard of a father who used to beat her senseless in his drunken rages. Her cups always half full and she always said a little bit of what you fancy does you good.

I have always been told I dont look my age, usually pass for 33 -34 years when in reality im 41 next month. I like to wear trendy but classy clothes. I like my up to date haircuts, latest being a pob, which ive now adapted to my own style.

Im lucky I dont have any grey hair yet, and have no wrinkles as such and all my own teeth also I still suffer from the odd zit lol..

I hate exercise, over eat on crap occasionaly:sneaky: but i rarely drink alcohol and I dont smoke. Sex is a good exercise too:sneaky::D:D:-4

I agree with the smoking being bad for your face...(among other things) that was one of my worries when I smoked, I know women that have what I call "pockey face"...and I don't know how to explain it, but their skin isn't smooth, and it comes from smoking...also the wrinkles around the lips as pants mentioned....YUCK!!

I look really old right now, because of the stress I'm under, always have bags under my eyes, I'm overweight...wa wa wa, but I know that I'll get through this smelling like roses eventually!! And hopefully I won't look like I'm 80 next year!

Seriously, I know women that look twice their age due to not taking care of themselves for long periods of time...very sad.:-1:-1

Your dead right Carol. Funny enough we were talking about this yesterday in work. Years ago if someone was in their 40's they looked old, mainly because most would stop wearing make-up, start wearing polyester slacks, twin sets and pearls and have their hair set once a week at the hairdressers on rollers fixed with a can of elnett hairspray or resort to a dead short haircut...I think it stemmed from their mothers etc...My nan god bless her, looked old in her 20's, I think they all did.

Nowadays, most women try harder in their 40's + and dont look old.
