my god ... i posted a thread about 21000 people being murdered in a single year in south africa ... it has so far got zero.. zilch ... no ...replies ...

yet a thread about "can you take your snot with you" got 12 replies!

what a sad indictement of our times or else what a show of contempt for me!

not even our ladies said a word despite the graphic description of a toddler been raped ...

oh my!

I am not informed enough on that subject to post there Jj. I find the whole subject disturbing and have refrained from even reading it im afraid. I come online for fun, If I want to read depressing stuff ill got to BBC news site etc...

oh my!JJ I told you why I wasn't going to get involved on that thread on the foc 'ers thread and maybe thats why some of the ladies here dont want to get involved also.Its bloody hard to read about what is going on there and I for one dont want to read about a baby getting raped.I know its wrong and maybe yes I shouldn't turn away but JJ I have problems to deal with here and only come on FG to get away from my problems and have a laugh and "chat" to some nice people.I have nothing against you fgs you know that as I am sure many haven't here but theres only so much hurt I can take and reading some of what you put you really have no idea what it does to me.Maybe Im being selfish but my reading all that and answering about it wouldn't help those poor souls........power and greed are dangerous weapons.

I haven't read the other thread. But through no fault of my own. I clicked, the site froze and wouldn't load the page. I lost my short attention span and started thinking about the snot woman.

I feel the same as Cheezie jj. I find it sickening this is happening i n this world but I come on here to get away from all of that. I hear enough of things like that with the foster children that come into my care. Sorry if you might think I am burying my head in the sand but Im not. I wish you all the luck for what you are trying to do though and from what I have read there is a lot of help happening in Africa.

Hope you understand where I am coming from though.

A lot of people are very sensitive to the horryifying stuff that goes on in this cruel world...I am one of them....its much easier for me to joke around about some snotty woman....:rolleyes:

I think you forget the time differences. Looking at it you are i think eight hours or so behind or in front.

You don't actually invite comment. South africa has made a remarkable peaceful transition from apartheid. While hardly perfect and personally I wouldn't like to live there, what are you suggesting? bring back apartheid? It comes across as a right wing rant designed to stir an emotional response.

JJ, there are a lot of people both women and men, who come on a forum like this one just to 'get away' from their real life situation. Mostly, I believe, they join a forum to have a little bit of light relief. Some join because they are lonely and want to make friends. Some join because they are house-bound. Some join to have a damn good debate. Mostly, I think you'll find, they just want and need to be cheered up. They are not being selfish necessarily, they just have a need to 'get away' from the real world for a while. I think we are all aware of most of the dreadful happenings around the world and as somebody said in an earlier post, if we need to feel more depressed we can watch the TV news bulletins.

I do wish you well with your other thread JJ, and perhaps over time you may be surprised by a better response.

seriously though, soemtimes on the difficult threads, and I havnt read your other one yet, I have too much to say, i'd bog the whoel thread down, or sometimes If I feel very strongly I have to think what I'm going to say for a bit before I say something wrong on it.
