Her Royal Highness- Queen Elaizabeth, appealed for Britain & Germany to stop being 'obsesses' by their history of conflict at a banquet in Berlin last night.
On the fourth state visit of her reign to Germany, she stopped well short of the apology some in Germany had wanted for the bombing of Dresden.
Instead, she spoke of the 'appalling suffering of war on both sides' and asked Germans and Britons to move beyond 'simplistic stereotype' of one another.

I would take that with a massive pinch of salt if I were you. it's the daily mail and daily express starting a story from nothing. I saw several german news people being interviewed who made it wuite clear it was not even mentioned in the german press. It's a non issue in germany but rather it was a story started by the daily mail. They started it after all why should we apologise.
We are obsessed though, we have german friends and austrian relatives, you dare not conscious how much ww2 stuff there is on tv till you have them staying with you. But as my german friend points out-yes they were beaten but it took the french the british the poles the russians and the americans to do it.

It's time to stop being obsessed about the war,
There is more WW11 stories on BBC & ITV every week, that's not counting the other channels from the UK & Ireland forever hashing out the Hitler show. Mr Churchhill should have invited Mr Hitler for afternoon tea. :p
It's time to stop being obsessed about the war,
Actually I don't think we should forget lest we repeat the same mistakes again. Total war has a completely different meaning nowadays-it's a lot more serious

Its time to stop being obsessed. Same could be said to all americans. I remember way back, hearing americans say The Russians are Coming, and how local para military groups across the US were well armed and waiting. But the Ruskies are long passed and gone. Now it's al-queada or some Mullah going to convert all christian young people to ISLAM and overthrow the american nation.
Perhaps it's because America never experienced war since way way back in their civil war days, we hear so much about.
Gt Britain and the rest of europe has experienced war many times over and so did countless other nations.
9/11 should never have happened. And it has made americans more obsessed with war than ever before.
