Oh dear....

Post by Imladris »

.... my darling grandson was in trouble with his mum today, she's even threatened him with his birthday party being cancelled (he's 3 soon), this is what he did -

Mum was tidying the bedrooms, Josh was playing in the living room when he decided to make a cake.

He went into the kitchen, got out a tub and dragged a chair to the counter. He then went into the fridge and got out eggs which he broke into the tub and on the counter, then he took the tub to the sink and added water. The water and egg mix spread around the sink but not to be put off Josh then moved to the other side of the sink to get the sugar.

The new 2lb bag of sugar mixed well with the eggs and water and although there seemed to be a lot of sugar on the counter and the floor Josh obviously didn't find that a hinderance to the cake making process.

Moving on around the kitchen some of the mix slopped out of the tub onto the floor and cupboard doors but at nearly 3 you don't worry about such trifling things as mess. But what you really need to make a cake special is some jelly (jello) chrystals, they mix beautifully in with cake which you then put in the microwave oven and cook.

Also the same mix can be put into a glass in the fridge to make jelly for mummy.

Josh didn't quite understand why mummy wasn't really pleased that he'd made cake!:-3

(The mixture set rock solid in the tub which fortunately was plastic not metal, I dread to think what would have happened if he put metal in the microwave)

You're not kidding!!!

He spent the day at our house on Saturday, by the time I drove him home I was so exhausted I could barely move!

The list of activities of the day -

Helping grandad power wash the patio

Making chocolate crispie cakes with nanny

Painting then a bath!

Playdo

Playing on bike talking to nanny all the time

Hunting and killing monsters in the garden with nanny

Playing with Brio trainset

Allowing nanny to eat lunch provided she does it in 5 minutes whilst answering questions at the same time

Going for a long walk in the woods then ending up at the swings

Listening to nanny read lots of books

Playing with toy cars with nanny 'cos 'Nanny I'll fix your car in the garage for you'

Annoying though it is for the parents to have to clear up I think it's really great when kids want to experiment and mix stuff up, I love to see them being creative

My daughter used to spend hours playing with her toy kitchen and she always enjoyed helping me make cakes. It was good fun.

Ah that's such as sweet story! :-4

I'm sure it wasn't fun for Josh's parents to clean up, but to see him being so active and productive (even if it means making a mess,) at such a young age is really good to see!

Ok I'd probaly be mad to about the mess. But it's great the kid plays and has an imagination. I had a nephew who even at 3 never played. He sat in front of the tv and ate cheerios and cheetos all day. So tell your daughter it could be worse. :wah:

that is such a cute story, I'm sure the parents didn't like the mess, but how can you stay mad at them at that age? My little man will be 2 in july and he's an active one too and spoiled rotten:wah:. Thanks for a look at what I can be expecting.:) It wouldn't matter though because I love him to pieces:-4

Not really, it's on the worktop but he knows how to get a chair and climb up.

He loves helping, he'll help with cooking, cleaning, gardening as long as he can chat all the way through he's there with you. So like most kids he's taking in everything you're doing and can copy it all!!!
