Jake is a CIA operative.

After a suicide bomber kills 19 people one of which is a fellow CIA officer hes directed to "observe" the torture of a prime suspect. Egyptian born but living in Chicago with a wife and family. His job as a chemical analyst puts him front and center as a target but Gyllenhaal digs deep and uncovers an overzealous Senator.

Very well done film. I was immersed in the Middle Eastern theatre with authentic belief that such is the way of warfare tactics.
