can some please interpret this nightmare?
went to bed last night about midnight ... it was very hot and humid ... oppressive almost ...
lay awake tossing and turning until well after 1am then had this terrible nightmare ...
there was this dark and sinister force that manifested itself in a cloud of black vapour against the ceiling above my bed ... it was sort of like a face with long arms reaching down and trying to suffocate me ... it paralyed me so that i was unable to move ... i kept crying out for someone to help me but noone did ... the nightmare seemed to go on and one ... the same thing over and over and i know that i was crying out aloud for help and trying to move but could not ... :-1
anyone have ANY idea what this can mean?
yeah okay ... get the funny replies out the way first ... i can take a ragging ...
once ya all finished taking the **** ... could someone please seriously interpret my nightmare for me?

Wish I could help you, sounds pretty freaky.
I did find this link though to dream interpretation. Don’t know if it is any good or not but maybe someone there can let you know. If you find out let us know.

Crikey that does sound scary I feel for you JJ, can't have been at all nice!
My only thought would be that normally dreams are supposed to relate to your life in someway, so I guess that being suffocated might mean that someone or thing in your life is holding onto you, or keeping you down and you are trying to break free, but can't just yet. Just a guess though, but I hope that you are able to sleep better tonight! :-6

Maybe it doesn't "mean" anything. Sometimes a suffocating black vapor cloud is just a suffocating black vapor cloud.

the dark sinister cloud is your own black mood or depressive thoughts,, or it is something on your mind that is troubling you. you want to ask for help but you dont allow yourself too,, keeping things to yourself instead.
Thats what i think anyway:D

That was just Nomad paying you a visit. No harm.
I'm sorry.........I had to say that.
Seriously, I have had dreams that seem so vivid. Sometimes they are pleasurable....sometimes not.

Ok, let me make it clear that getting information out of me is like playing a slot machine (that doesn't need money): sometimes the cherries come up, mostly they don't. I've got a rag bag of it from all over, but often I've forgotten where, or the exact details or it's out of date (always open to correction) so take it or leave it. :p
I'm pretty sure that sleep paralysis is well documented in modern medical/psychological literature and might be described as what stops us kicking our metaphorical partners across the room at night, and coming partially awake and being aware of the phenomenon is recorded though not thankfully common, in the sense it's quite quitely likely for an individual to experience this or a related phenomenon in his or her lifetime. Mary Shelley (Frankenstein author) experienced it and their are paintings from the earlyish C19 portraying it as an incubus on crouched on the chest - high Gothic stuff. What you experienced was a purely physical phenomenon to that extent. Look at a sleeping dog chase rabbits. Think of it in the same sort of way as sleepwalking. Which isn't half so mystical a phenomenon after you've walked home sometimes as a student.
To the rest, so many dreams - who can possibly speak for all - are a jumbled mess of events, sometimes apparently quite trivial, related to our memories sorting out but beyond that point we're heading out into theoretical or "nobody really knows" territory. If there is a proven significance beyond that I am not aware of it.
A bit of self-analysis by looking at your own dream isn't likely to hurt, just don't get too morbid about it. In extreme cases it can result in wearing too much black with white make up. If there's an area in your life causing you stress look to that first, but don't forget that the experience you had in itself is quite shocking and scary and that colours your memory and gives the experience significance.

You've had a fright and you fear you're own death (either literally or psychologically) it's possible you've been discussing this recently with someone close to you or you felt it while discussing a certain topic with someone close to you. Dreams are only our subconciousness relaying memories or thoughts that we put in the back of our minds.
The dream you've described is not being told as it happened there must be small minute details that you havent mentioned.
I would ask you .............have you ever been in a fire? have you ever been in a situation where something similar to a dark cloud was present. Like are you afraid of thunderstorms (as a child or an adult).
I could go into the whole sleep thing REM's etc, but I think you'd do better looking it up yourself to understand the paralyse situation. It could be many things.

i have been recalling a few other things that happened in my dream ... i remember trying to kick and hit at this presence and i also remember trying to bang on my bedroom wall to get someone to help me ... most of all i recall shouting for help and nobody responding ...
Like are you afraid of thunderstorms (as a child or an adult).
odd that you should say this ... as a child of four five six years old i was terrified of thunderstorms ... there was a shoe factory near where we lived and my mother used to try and console me by saying that they were loading boxes of shows and that was making the noise ...
also last night at about 9pm the mother of all electrical storms hit us which took out my internet connection which has only just been restored ... the lightning and thunder was something to behold ...

I think that this may refelect greatly on your lack of flirting lately and your vow to stop that behavior. Flirting is what must take care fo your fear, see? I think if you just go back to flirting the nightmares will go away.
My cure for you is to flirt 5 times more than you ever have, you do that and th enightmares will go away, if you develop an email chain mail stating that and you send it out to 20 friends you will also win a lot of money. I'm sure of it.
you really really think this could be whats wrong jester?
okay ... look out ladies!!

i dont really have nightmares, but sometimes hsve what i call a disturbing dream, where i cant stop thiking about it all day, and then i think it must be trying to tell me something,
A few years back, i had a dream that my daughter had a baby son, i was at some sort of work meeting when my sister in law(My husnbands sister) came running to me and said, you have to come quick they have taken the baby to hospital, he has air in his lungs:-2 Off we hurried really worried about the baby, and after that i cant really remember the rest of the dream. I woke up thinking how ridiculous!! I would hope he did have air in his lungs:wah: but still i couldnt stop thinking of it as it all seemed so serious at the time. That afternoon i got a call from my father in law to ask me to get in touch with my husband to go pick them up from the doctors, i knew straight away something was wrong as his parents never ever asked for a lift, especially when they knew their son was working (he is a taxi driver). Well that was the day his mum had went to docs cos she had trouble breathing, from then on we found out she had ovarian Cancer, of which she sadly succumbed to in the summer just gone. weird eh?:-3
