Quite so. It's not fireworks that maim children, it's careless users.
Weren't Red Devil the company that went down for bribing Californian politicians about legalizing extra firework sales outlets? And they can just put stands up and sell them, now?

Far Rider wrote: Spot please tell me your kidding? Please make this a toungue in cheek statement. Or at least making a joke about it in some way....Free enterprise is a wonderful thing. I love fireworks displays. We have one each year about half a mile from where I'm typing, about fifty thousand people turn up, there's bonfires, it's great. It's to celebrate the last time anyone came close to blowing up our king and parliament, the Gunpowder Plot.
Is that close enough? I can try some more if you like?

hmmmm I think I would like to offer spot a "chill pill"
Spot get a clue. If your going to go on through life being paranoid about all things and blame manufacturers you may want to move to a remote little cave and live off the land. And if you do so beware of a few things, you could fall off a cliff while hunting and plunge to your death. You could be bit by the nasty brown recluse spider and die a painful death. The deer tic is another nasty little inscet that could get ya. Or worst case scenario, a mosquito carrying malaria.
All things come with a certain degree of danger, it is our job as humans to educate and be educated about the dangers.

Someone else post about the corruption case, I can't be arsed. Minks, I wasn't blaming any manufacturer. I made a half-hearted gesture toward saying that firework night invariably increases the workload of hospital casualty units, but I tried hard to be light-hearted about it. I'm just not good at humor.

I am jealouse fireworks are restricted here, we can't buy them in the city. We do have displays of them every nite for 10 nites in a row for stampeded, (comes up in july and we become party city) as well in August we have the international fireworks compitition which is just awesome. But for just personal use NO CAN DO. Some rural towns sell em.

Gosh I remember shooting roman candles at each other as a kid, which of course our Uncles showed us how to do.... must have parental supervision you know!
Yeah, Rider! When I was an early teenager, my Dad was a L.A. policeman. On the 4th of July he would confiscate a bag of firecrackers, cherry bombs, bottle rockets, etc. He's take them home and give 'em to us kids and we'd blow 'em off!
You couldn't get me to touch that stuff now- too dangerous! But I love to watch fireworks displays. This year we'll miss it though- going camping in the Sierras.

Our stampede goes for 10 days it is a rodeo and midway, but we get great bands in all 10 days straight some for free some cost money. All parts of the city celebrate in a western way. Everyone dresses up western. We have pancake breakfasts in the street all over the city. And our downtown goes crazy with breakfasts, lunches dancing, displays, and saloon like parties set up in some of the vacant lots down town. It goes rain or shine and generally on average we are blessed with grand weather.

I wish they'd just ban all personal fireworks, I have six big pine trees and last year the stupid neighbor kid was aiming a Roman Candle at one of them. If they catch fire, there goes my house.

The sale of Fireworks has been made legal here in New England this year. Today, we just saw a gigantic Fireworks Tent put up right in front of our local Fruit stand here in town! Then we went into our local Supermarket, and there in the middle of the floor was a Table full of Fireworks for sale!!! In COSTCO, a whoesale merchasindising whearhouse here, there were hundreds of stacks of Fireworks for sale! As mentioned in an another post, due to the mass public using Fireworks this year, most likely our E/R's here will be overworked on the 4th!! :wah:
It will be interesting to see if "they" do publicize all the injuries, for fear of loosing future sales next year!
