An oldie, with a twist...

Maker's Mark Mint Julep

Mash 3-6 fresh mint leaves in a julep cup or pint glass and fill with ice. Add 2 shots regular Makers Mark and 1 shot Maker's Mark Mint Julep (limited availability at Derby Time, if not use a mint schnapps), and 1 teaspoon superfine or powdered sugar, stir. Enjoy!

True--they are the official drink of the Kentucky Derby and are commonly made around that time. The Maker's Mark Mint Julep is distributed in Kentucky only, and put in random liquor stores for Derby season only. There are 156 liquor stores in the greater Louisville area, so you have to find one that sells it, and then con them into shipping it to you, as it is illegal in the state of Kentucky to ship liquor over state lines. It has to be driven. (Did you know that the county that produces Jack Daniel's is a dry county?)
