Who likes consignment shops? I have taken some furniture that was still too good to just throw out to them. You never really get what you would like for the piece, but at least you get something back. They also are a good place to look for furniture, if your not wanting to pay full price and get something brand spanking new, but still in realtively good shape.

I need to find one of these. I have about a million dollars worth of crap I would sell for near nothing just to get rid of it.

Come to think of it when I lived in Dallas, I don't remember seeing consignment shops, lots of 2nd hand and junk stores, etc., but not consignment shops.

we have quite a few here. I like them but don't like the fact the store takes a % off the sale of items

I don't know what their percentage is, but they have to live too.

Thats not so bad, they have their overhead, etc., and in the meantime at least you get some money for something you don't want anymore.

I have been to a few consignment store - seem high price to me and I'm a frugel shopper.
I shop more in thrift stores - estate sales - garage sales
I collect unique things - I have looked thru consignment shops - bought a outfit in one.
I do know if your the one putting the item in the store - its not worth it
YZGI - put a ad in a paper to sell your junk or use a E-Bay Store.

I usually buy all my son's clothes in consignment shops but I always end up giving his used/too small stuff to a neighbor who has 3 younger boys. I've gotten some nice jeans out of a woman's consignment shop near me. Goodwill has some good deals. And yes, you can't beat a good yard sale especially when it's a multi-family one.
