My Wife & I went to a 4th of July House party today. One of the other guests there (He was divorced) I have not seen for about 5 years. To my surprise, he was there with his brand new (mail-order) "on-line" bride from England. She said they met on line about a year ago, & had a face to face 8 months ago. And she went back to England, sold her house there & all her belongings and came back to America and married my friend 2 months ago. She seemed very nice, they seemed happy, and I just loved her English accient!!! So I guess sometimes those "on-line" romances do pan out! :)

i love romance! and i don't see why meeting online is any "worse" than meeting in a bar. people probably get to know each other quite well online assuming everyone is being honest. but i will say that i consider it very risky behavior to go sell all your belongings and your home, leave your country, based on one meeting. what is the backup plan if it doesn't work out? ...Cars, you said 'mail-order'...that implies something else entirely.

Hello Cars, it's good to know that these on-line romances work. Personally I'm into one and the journey had being so wonderful. The world is getting smaller with the internet and people once far apart are being brought closer. Though there are some unsuccessful ones but that doesn't rule out the possibility of having a fruitful, longlasting and enjoyable romance whose origin is via the internet.

I know people who have tried to on-line romance thing and it didn't work out. I also know a few situations where it did. LC nailed it when she said, "As long as everyone is being honest." That's the key. If you're being honest, then it doesn't matter how you meet.

My sister is currently very happy with a man she met online, and that has been almost three years now. He's a very nice man, and he's good to my sister. (Perhaps out of fear, but hey, whatever works. :yh_rotfl )

We actually had a neighbor that had a mail order bride from British Columbia - When she got here - they had never talked on the phone or even met- no intrenet~ nothing...They are still married and he helped legalize her 2 small children and they went on to have 1 more together..She said that she went to a place in BC - and asked to be sent to America. Then they hooked her up with him, who paid BIG dollars for her..and over she came! That was in 1988 - so its not that long ago that these things happened...He was kind of a geeky looking guy and she was so pretty.....but she loved him so much for taking her out of her country - she said what made her do it was , she dropped off her kids at school one morning and some (sp?) guarilla's shot down some kids dad as he walked his son into school..She said the violence had become so bad she HAD to get out - and she was willing to sell herself to do so...

Hey Cars, I think that is great for your friend. And I personally think there is nothing wrong with the net as a search tool for romance. As mentioned by LC be safe. be smart.

I met the BF online granted we live in the same city a mere 15 minutes from each other. I nkow of another fabulous online romance story but she will come on and share her's when she is around again :)

Some on-line dating agencies now engage PI's to ascertain the veracity of all information supplied by members. Where lies are discovered, a person is suspended.

LC, That's why (mail-order) was in prenthesees, implying meaning (similar to) back in the stone age, conversing with each other via "mail" - "before" the marvel of on-line" correspondence was instituted! ;) Ain't life grand!

As far as "Her" taking a big chance selling everything, and moving to America, she indicated they conversed on-line for "8" months, and when she finally came to visit him for two weeks, everything was just as he told her! :)

As far as the toilet seat being put down, funny that subject came up, and he said he always put it down anyway, because that's what his Mother always made him do. (Same as mine did) The subject of snoaring did not come up, so that's up for grabs!

That would make sense yes, BC is here in Canada, our west coast we don't have those kinds of criminal acts. (or so we like to think)

Columbia makes more sense.

Cars! Thank you!

Yes my friend, My husband found me on-line. Our first conversation was 8 hours long. Then he called me.......You wouldnt believe our phone bills! :wah: We wrote to each other as well. It's not like we could just go out for a coffee. I flew over for two weeks, went back and got my fiancee visa and the rest is history. But we are very happy. And very fortunate. :-4
