Awww, that made me cry....I have never sent any of my boys off to camp....I know they should've, I just never got organized enough and always too pre-occupied with crazy things like surviving to send them to camp....one summer I was going to send them and the middle child wouldn't go, he refused to leave me, this is only about 2 years ago....this summer they will spend most of the summer with their dad on the road, traveling across the country from VA to CA....this should be interesting to say the very least.
I can only imagine the anxiety your son has, and it melted my heart to read about packing an extra blankie!!! That is SO my youngest too!:-4:-4 I love it!
I hope he has a good time!

Not that I know of...what are they exactly? Are they through the public school system, are they for every school age?
When I was a kid there was a week long and 3 day long camp trip that we went on in the 6th grade and 8th grade (week was in 6th grade and 3-day in 8th-which I don't understand, you'd think it would be the other way around)....anyway....I know my kids don't do anything like that at all, only day-long field trips, which always cost something and we have to pack a lunch for them (which is no biggie, I do that anyway) and provide transporation for them home that day, since they usually get home after buses run kids home.

Yeah it's part of the school curriculum, gettting them ready for the real world etc. on there own. Keehan will be seeing the Melbourne Aquarium, Melbourne museum the sports museum at the Hallowed MCG, the Melbourne aqua centre where all our olympians compete and they get to spend two hours at the wave pool and slides. The arts centre, Parliament, probably the Casino. etc etc.
The adventure camp is more outdoorsy. canoeing, rock climbing, bush walking, Giant swings and flying foxes and kind of scouty stuff.
The snow trip is learning to ski ....that's it . the whole purpose is to get kids down the blue and black runs before they leave primary school .
Have to admit a lot of the kids at our little school go onto the leadership camps in high school.
This will be Keehans third camp . But as I siad it's the first one where another family member has not been present. Brett's moved onto high school now and parents aren't allowed on the melbourne camps.
Have to remember the first camp for most of these kids is when they are seven or eight.
Wow, that is amazing to me....we don't have anything like that....wish we did....sounds wonderful and so good for the kids....I'm jealous!
