never had sabotage in police ranks, we are too tight. but i will say this, if someone appeared to be incapable or unwilling to provide backup, we made sure it was known. that is one very unacceptable problem. lives are on the line, as in your profession. i once had to write up someone who stood frozen as another officer was taken down by the throat, and i am not sorry i did.

Why is everyone making so much noise around here? :-2
It's far too early to be crawling out of my pit!!!
Need a cup of char at least......waking up slowly now.
Hey Sarge, your post was 12.23 am here, so you were right about it being early somewhere!! hehehe
Hey Spot, have you been posted? Weren't you in Bristol before? or am I mixing you up with someone else? Have you moved across the Severn Bridge into Wales now? Watch out for those dragons! Lol!
Hey LC, are you over here at last? Welcome! What'll you do now? Join the UK police force? What'll you do without your gun? Will you miss it or be pleased not to have it? Having said that, more of our police are becoming gun-carriers! Yikes!

Dry county, Far, and we are only one of 4 cities who still allow fireworks!
(I think we have more illegal here than legal, last night it was some
serious M-80's and what sounded like daisy-chained fuses or something!)
I don't have any of my own "war stories" so I'll tell a couple of my little
brother's... he was nearing the end of his 6 weeks at MCRD in San Diego,
(Hi Carla!!) California when they discovered he had a hairline fracture in
his right leg. They gave him a choice of taking a medical out and repeating
his 6 weeks (which he did NOT want to do can ya blame him?) or
staying but being treated like any other recruit, so he opted to stay and
had to do a 5 mile march on a bum leg! Those jarheads, I tell ya!
Then, a few years later when he was with the sheriff's office, he and
2 other officers were trying to control an unruly 300 pound plus prisoner
and ended up with the prisoner falling on my bro's right ankle and crushing
it. So now he's got pins and screws in that leg forever!
He was just a couple points below "Honor Man" which he really wanted
because then you got your dress blues provided free! He didn't quite
make it but later was elected president of his academy class and also
ACED a 700-cone driving test. He was taught how to drive by the same
man who taught me (Thanks, Dad!!) and I think that's pretty impressive!!
Very proud of him, dontcha know!!

Hey, Sarge, take it easy on us green recruits!
It went well, Far. Pissed my mother off something fierce!! As I pulled into the driveway, she's pointing to her right shoulder mouthing "What the HELL is that??!!!" She was totally shocked, and I got the lecture from hell about being safe, and the predicted gripe about having a tattoo for my wedding. She forgets I'm 34, not 4. Yeah, it was a blast! :yh_rotfl

Hey, your mom was proud of you, as I would be. I can see myself doing the exact same thing, if my son ever joins the service.
I like hearing that the mother's influence stays with her kids, even after she's gone. I like the way you talk about the women in your life, Far. You always sound so respectful, and content, and your love for them is so apparent. That's really cool to see.

None of us are saints, that's for damn sure! I give your parents a lot of credit for being able to bring you up with a religious influence; ANY religious influence, and not be hypocritical. That's a hell of a tough thing to do.
I posted before you edited yours, Far.
My son will probably not join the service. Whichever way he chooses, I will support him, but I don't see it in him. If he does, (and that decision would be made within the next 2 years) I would be grateful for any information you could provide.

Watch out for those dragons! Lol!Rapunzel, hi. You've been on holiday? No, I didn't move. You remember that Avon was abolished after twenty years, because nobody wanted it? Well, I decided last month to abandon the national boundary changes of William the Conqueror. Bristol's reverted to its original name and it's back in Wales where it started. Before William, the Welsh border came up as far as Chippenham, on a good day with no Saxons in the vicinity.
If I project the place a couple of years into the future, it can go back to "Bristol, Gateway to the West" and have a US flag to encourage the tourists back. We're folksy, we're quaint, we're rustic, and we serve anyone.
I've been religiously counting these sit-ups, Far Rider, I've managed seven so far. Is that about right?

If you really did come late to my formation you'd be running in place until the formation was complete, I'd make you answer all my questions and if you answered any wrong, you'd stop drop and give me 20, and I'd increase it 10 reps for each wrong answer. And of course I'd ask you questions you could not possibly know the answer to. Then when the formation was over, Id take your squad leader aside and smoke him until he got the idea that he should continue to smoke you while I walked away...
Mean huh Abs?!
But would you ever show up late again?PHEW......Is it just me that finds that strangely erotic! :wah:

Roger that, FarRider, I am an Air Force Reserve pilot / Alternative High School Principal and math teacher and my aircraft is a Northrup T-38 Talon, twin engine supersonic trainer.
How about a ride to the top of the stratosphere? You can see the whole United States at once, the curve of the blue Earth with it's tiny atmosphere blanket, and the sky's black velvet with trillions of stars shining brightly! It's a heck of a sight!
