The Last Word.........
:wah:
I'm thinking of my twelve-year old self rubbing dandelions on my newly acquired scar. Funny thing.....I wasn't embarassed about the scar. It was kind of like a minor war wound. I was admired by my peers. Like that scene in the movie "Jaws" when the men are comparing injuries from previous sea adventures.

Routine.....................it's kind of reassuring. To know pretty much what you are going to be doing on a given day. This is not to say that I don't like pleasant disruptions now and then.
Do you have a routine, let's say, for Saturday?
Me.........eating lunch with hubby at work, grocery shopping, doing the laundry, visiting FG for awhile, housecleaning, checking the mail,.........stuff like that.

I've got lots of scars! Mostly on my legs and they are from being in and out of hospital as a child,
I dont think about them much- except when I see someone looking at them.
They are very much a part of me

I'm lucky that I have some home movies of me with my brothers and sisters on Easter. I think I was 4 or 5 years old. We were so cute munching on candy and walking with my grandpa. I cherish the film........needless to say.

Scar? Jeeze Louize. Bullet hole in left arm from some drunk. Knife scar in stomach from X wife. Scar in left eyebrow from a fight. Knife wound, right hip. Scars on right knee from fall while hunting. Scars on butt from dumping a 'cycle on loose gravel.
Otherwise, I had a fun life.

Do you have a scar?
I do, on the left side of my chin. I tripped in school in the 6th grade and my chin hit the metal edge of the teachers desk. Didn't hurt...but bled. I had to have 14 stitches and rub coca butter on it for awhile. I don't think about it anymore...the scar is just a part of me.
I have 2 scars on my arm (one small one big) i got into a really big argument with my step dad and put my arm through a window...had quite a few stitches

All our imperfections are part of us and give us character. We have "history" marks on us, and sometimes, in our hearts.
When I was younger, it was so important to fit in and be accepted by my peers. Wearing the right hairstyle, clothes, speaking cool,..........you know, school girl stuff. Now, I am older and a little wiser, I am glad to be myself. I am not perfect and never have been. But that's okay. I do try to take care of myself, but I certainly don't try to fit in.
As a matter fact, I'm glad I don't have those "school-girl" hang-ups anymore.

Uh oh, I've been thinking again.
We go to school to study mathematics, science, history, carpentry, art, music, computer technology, etc, etc........but we don't go to school to learn the most important job in the world...........being a parent. People are having babies and don't know how to raise and nurture them, how to budget for them, how to keep them healthy, etc. I think many rely on what they learned from their parents , as I did. Many watch TV and believe what they see on the sit-coms is real life. Many just "wing it" or let grandma/grandpa raise the child.
Face it, alot of folks are having sex and babies are being born. What about the children? They didn't get the choice of being born to that particular man and woman (or boy and girl)? Are these people prepared to be good parents to them?
Are they ready for the commitment and the responsibilty that goes into being Mama and Daddy? And, ofcourse, is there love?
We do go to school to be a good teacher.............but we don't to be a good parent.

Been visitng the other threads at FG. Some I've replied to, some I'm still considering, and some I just read. What moves you to reply to a thread? Do you just type a reply in right away or do you have to think about the topic awhile before you respond?
Many of our members express themselves so beautifully. I hope they realize how gifted they are. I find myself humbled by their prose and intelligence.

My wife wakes up first and puts the coffee on. I lay sightly awake until I hear the spoon mixing the creamer in my cup and slowly make my way down the hall, then greet her with a smile, good morning and a hug. :-4 Time, you ask...It's still dark, I pay no attention to the time, just the company I'm in at the moment. Eventually I get nudged to get a move on and I kiss her good-bye, tell her I love her and head off to work.

We both ride to and from work together as we work at the same company....same shift. It's nice for us as we also have breakfast and lunch together at work.
PS. I am always grateful that we found each other.

Ah...........the road of life. What a trip it is! I found this pic on the net. It is an old gas pump that has been painted in the theme, "along for the ride". A relic, perhaps?
When I was in summer art class in high school, for one of our projects, the class visited a shopping mall and took all the various metal trash cans, chose one, and painted it in a theme of our choice. Mine was a "Picasso" trash can. Abstract and colorful. Fun and something different.
Do you have any memories of doing something a little different and fun in school?

I took these pictures myself. One is of a Georgia sunset. The other's were taken during our vacations; some in Florida, some in North Carolina.

Yes, that's the Smoky Mountains in the fall. Just gorgeous! That was taken not last year, but the year before. Last year the leaves didn't seem to show off as much.

After working outdoors most of the day, I drank so much water that I actually felt full. My wife said that I still had to have a sit and to eat something when I came inside. When asked what I would like to drink with our meal, I requested a nice tall glass of iced tea. I like iced tea as much as I like water. I'm not much of a pop drinker. Will have an occasional root beer now and then, but not often.
So, what non-alcoholic beverages do you like?

Hubby didn't work this weekend, so he and I rode the roads Saturday. We went to Savannah; The Pro-Bass Shop, Keller's Fleamarket, and Camping World. Had a great time together. I"m glad I took a container of ice water with me. (Talking about thirst).
