Its $ the govt is sending out to taxpayers in a feeble attempt to cover up the inadequacies and criminal shortcomings of the Bush administration.

Also I suspect they think if they give us dollars maybe we will stop thinking about the war for awhile.

Maybe he'll try to nuke Iran and we wont be horrified because we'll all be so giddy buying stuff.

This year We are getting a stimulious refund also, which is to stimulate our economy. I've never heard of such a thing before, guess we are needing to boost the economy pretty bad for them to give us even more back!

They did that once under Reagan, we got a rebate check back for the same reason-but it was less money then.

I am going to pay off bills....ssh, we aren't supposed to use it for that. But I don't get mine back until September, summer will be over, what is there to spend it on when schools in? I already saved up for my summer vacation.....:-6

We dont get that kind of thing in England.....but guess you dont get get what we do...........mind you I dont:-3Tell you guys something.....I have the American News on right now and I cant believe how cheap your Petrol is there...........ours is approx £1.10 a LITRE.....over £5 a gallon if anybody cares to work that out in dollars.The thing is we all know that no matter who is in goverment none of us benefit and strange how they seem to tell us what we want to hear when there not in power and as soon as they are its all forgotten.:sneaky:

I try my hardest not to complain about petrol (gas) on here, but we are having the highest prices that we have ever had...and its killing a bunch of us poor folks, I try not to go too many places too far away if I can help it....just to save gas.

I was going to spend it making my dogs' living areas ready for summer but it won't get here before the heat does. So it'll probably go toward bills or something like that. Groceries. Cab fare.

My new pt gig pays me .50 a mile for gas. If I drive 150 miles I get $75.00 but I only use maybe $15.00 worth.

Im actually not worried about the prices.

I feel extremely lucky in that regard.

the hard thing for me is when it comes time to cure up my tobacco this fall, the barns use gas, now you can imagine how much the gas prices are gonna cut into my profits!

My car usually takes 20 bucks to fill up (I only go to 1/3 till empty though) and yesterday it took over 30!!

I had been heating our home with space heaters before we left the house because of my heat pump being so old and about to die....so we brought one of them over here too....good thing, there is only a propane tank here and I'm not buying oil to heat this little apartment....aint no way baby!!

I about fainted when I saw a gallon of milk for close to $5.00......DO you know how boys like to drink milk??? I need to buy a cow at that rate!!

I truely don't know how families do it - how can you stay out of the RED ??

Our running around is a minimum - very consolidated. I do coupons when purchasing & price checking - buy sales - milk was $ 1.00 1/2 gallon - I bought 4 , split & freeze. I was brought up with frugal parents with 6 kids, what can I say ??

This PHONY GOV'T MONEY being issued - so we can afford to eat !! WHAT ???

We get charged by the gallon, in my area it is about 3.48 per gallon, not sure what that tranlates in your money, my guess is about half??? We are used to it being about 2.00 a gallon, at the highest, so having to pay almost 4 bucks a gallon is really hurting everyone.

I told my middle son recently that we need to go into the business of making "for sale" signs....they are selling like hot-cakes nowadays, it is really sad......somethin's gotta give!

Patsy.....It is very hard to stay out of the red, I'm a bargain betty, coupon clippin, penny pinchin' type of gal, its not easy to take care of everything on a shoestring budget, but ya gotta do whatcha gotta do!:-6

Hey Carol, yes we do , Its a tax rebate .... if your self employed . My other half has an accountant who does his Tax . He should get his check in the next couple of weeks ( a very nice little amount

Im Self Employed Pants and yes agree (didnt think it was the same sort of thing sorry:-5)because we now pay our tax ahead now and unlike how it used to be ....... we do get back what we have overpaid......if any.If that is the case in the USA though why has it been on the news......thats why I thought it was something different.

Right now the government is giving rebates of up to $1,200 per couple and $300.00 for each kid, so we're looking at getting around $2,100 in mid July on top of getting back our tax refund (which is probably peanuts, because my husband made a profit).

Heck, I wish I was getting that much back, that would help me out a LOT!! I calculated it, and I'm not getting half of that!:(

This is called the "economic stimilus package".....to help our economy, this is something different than our reg. refund.

Printing large amounts of money and putting it into circulation is a guaranteed way of generating inflation - all you are doing is dropping the value of the money already in circulation.
