Are you sure it's a baker's cyst? When I had mine, the swelling was at the back of the knee. The doctor tried draining it, but it wouldn't work. After months of pain, it finally went away. They usually do, but not always. If it did burst, no operation should be neccessary. I'd still get checked just to be safe.

Is the swelling down and pain relieved?

Oh, I've never had that but I did have tennis elbow and that is painful but does go away after awhile. Plus, I had carpal tunnel in both wrists while pregnant with my youngest:D
